It’s been six seasons that GMs have been creating prospects for BBS. Some have been good (See: Duck Young Bak) and some have been downright bad (See: Carlito Cancun). Sometimes you get lucky and get a gem late (Bobo Bareagua) or draft a total bust (Billy Hoyle). Whatever it is, here’s a look at the GMs that have created the prospects for the last six drafts and draft grades for each in descnding order. The Commish always has a final call on creating players but maybe people can look at the GMs success rate in creating prospects and use it as a guide in the future.
List Guide

Italics = bust/bad prospect
No Bold/Italics = average/ok prospect
Aar (77 Total Prospects)
Grade- A (unfair because of number prospects made, but well deserved)
Discussion- Out of the 76 prospects Aar has created thus far, only 10 I count are sure-fire busts from what they were described to be. With that said, he’s created at least 15 studs that dominate BBS while still at a young age. Most notably, Duck-Young Bak, Nathaniel Davidson, Braden Issel, Marcus Bigelow and newcomer Reggie Yates are all Aar’s products. Only sure misses were Ricardinho who went first overall, Frank McPherson who was a lotto pick by the Blazers and Alfonso Robinson who dropped out of the lottery after some bad notes.
Aar’s List of Prospects:

DJ (22 Total Prospects)
Grade- B
Discussion- DJ has made the second most prospects outside of Aar (is it a Canadian thing?) and seems to have it down to being pretty good at making them. Players like Jamal Jenkins, Max Bates, Kareem Joffer, Jordan Metcalf and Rodrigo Mancini seem to be tearing it up as well. There have been some pretty bad players too though such as Tyson Haynes, Darrion Styles, Cesar Holmes and Sidney Deane. He’s also made a couple prospects in the middle or on the fringe of being mediocre players.
DJ’s Prospects:
Leo Tate
Max Bates
Karrem Joffer
Jordan Metcalf
Trey Donovan
Clifford Sutton
Jamal Jenkins
Rodrigo Mancini
Pierre Lavoie
Dean Grubert

Pig (15 Total Prospects)
Grade- B-
Discussion- Pig’s made some interesting prospects to say the least. These prospects have come all the way from Iceland to the Indian Reservation to Ireland to Korea and everywhere in between. So far his best prospect has to be Taven Whitehorse, who looks like one of the best young scorers in his time. Three of his prospects (St. Cloud, DeGroot and Masterson) have gone either #1 or #2 overall in drafts. Several prospects though, like Cancun, DiNunzio have been absolute wastes and other heralded prospects like Hjartsson and Vile might be busts also.
Pig’s Prospects:
Devereux St. Cloud
Taven Whitehorse
Alastair DeGroot
Quassam Al-Jeddha
Brody Masterson
JJ Keenan
Issac Chesthurt
Eamon O'Callaghan
Baek Hyun Moon
Stephon McXavier
Dmitiri Maximov
Carlito Cancun
LB Dinunzio
Kristjan Hjartsson
Harriet Vile
Blue (10 Total Prospects)
Grade- A-
Discussion- Blue’s a big critic but also can’t take the criticism sometimes as well. Either way, he can’t be dogged for his prospects for the most part. Josh Ely was a big time 20 point scorer for a while even though he fell out of favor in Minneapolis quickly. Jatoba also broke out his shell this year and lived up to the big contract he was given. Rice Jr. is probably the biggest surprise because he really wasn’t expected to be as good as he is even though he goes unnoticed usually. McGahee is a great dynamic scorer and Edwards is a nice young big. The only bust I count so far is Bradley Harmon, who seemed to be like a Luke Walton type that never caught on.
Blue’s Prospects:
Josh Ely
Filipe Jatoba
Glen Rice Jr
Jared McGahee
Thomas Edwards III
Byron Hasty
Eric Stoner
Renaldo McFadden
Harrison Asamoah
Bradley Harmon
Nova (9 Total Prospects)
Grade- A-
Discussion: Nova has quietly made some of the finer prospects BBS has seen. Shelley Cruise became a dynamo scorer like many expected even though his defense is horrendous. Daniels and Purify are both efficient point guards, while Jackson, Marshall and Carter seem like great forwards for any team. His only real misses have been Sediq King and Jeremy Holmes who are probably playing for scraps right now.
Nova’s prospects:
Shelley Cruise
Bishop Daniels
Brynn Marshall
Julius Jackson
Cameron Carter
Mason Purify
Storm Warren
Sediq King
Jeremy Holmes
Jay (7 Total Prospects)
Grade- C+
Discussion- Jay’s made some interesting prospects to say the least. He creates a bonafied big man stud in Bobby Hill who happens to bust then makes an Argentine stud in Alvarez who looks like the second coming of Dirk Nowitzki. Then he makes a rapper-named guard named Cameron Williams who died in TC but Austin Brock looks the total opposite as far good. So this leaves Jay right in the middle as far as making prospects. Mediocrity basically, something he enjoys now.
Jay’s Prospects:
Diego Alvarez
Austin Brock
Ousmane Sembene
Raman Mukopadhyay
Bobby Hill
Jonah Manuel
Cameron Williams
Aaron (5 Total Prospects)
Grade- C
Discussion- Nothing’s gone right for Aaron when making prospects. York, who was supposed to be his best player still seems like a bust after being taken No. 6 overall. In the same token, Rick Machata never played up to his big brother’s shadow and is still a backup point guard on most teams. This grade could go up in Kenny Hardaway breaks out into an elite scorer and if Action Jackson keeps his ratings. Kevin Blake might be the only real nice player he's made.
Aaron’s Prospects:
Kevin Blake
Action Jackson
Kenny Hardaway
Ricky Machata
Rob York
Play (3 Total Prospects)
Grade- B- (too early to tell though)
Discussion- Play started making prospects last season so it’s too early too tell whether most of his prospects are going to be good or not. Either way, Gates shows a lot of intrigue to be good in NY as well as Hamilton and Jackson. If Jackson or Hamilton breaks out, Play could easily get an A for making prospects so far.
Play’s Prospects:
Ben Gates
Ryan Jackson
Darius Hamilton
Skillz (3 Total Prospects)
Grade- C+
Discussion- Skillz has only made three prospects and none have been overwhelming either. A lot of people doubted how a big man like Thomson could have great handles and still be a center but he still a top 20 center in the league. Early indications show that Navarro may have been a bust for the Raptors in 2016 though. Joseph Freed is a nice backup guard so Skillz gets a decent grade.
Skillz’s Prospects:
Karron Thomson
Joseph Freed
Adalberto Navarro
Andrew (3 Total Prospects)
Grade- C
Discussion- Andrew made one of the most unsought out players ever to hit the waiver wire in Tahir Carrington. Although his ratings show he’s a solid player, he never really became great after being taken seventh overall. Choi is a nice backup center but never became great. Billy Hoyle is probably one of the bigger lottery busts in recent memory.
Andrew’s Prospects:
Tahir Carrington
Joon Seop Choi
Billy Hoyle
Galo (3 Total Prospects)
Grade- C
Discussion- Machata came in early and made an impact in the league with his game but it was short live as he quickly evaporated. Ja’Shon Garrison was one of the more sought out guards for a while until he got his huge deal. Charles Wincy was a first round flare out that is not in the league anymore. Pretty average prospect making so far.
Galo’s Prospects:
Gabe Machata
Ja'Shon Garrison
Charles Wincy
Captain (3 Total Prospects)
Grade- B-
Discussion- Captain changed the game with the introduction of the fattiest, small player to ever grace BBS, Bobo Bareagua. Few expected him to be good but somehow he developed in Denver and has recently found a home in Dallas. Limon was also a decent player who serves his role easily on a strong Lakers team. Highlander was recently the beneficiary of a good training camp and is a decent big to be as tall as he is. Overall, he made some decent prospects.
Captain’s Prospects:
Bobo Bareagua
Ulysses Limon
Cory Highlander
Ashes (3 Total Prospects)
Grade- C+
Discussion- The jury is still out on Ashes’ prospects. Since his players were drafted last season it’s hard to tell how good they will be. The Cars.com commercial character was a funny touch and really exemplified Allstar’s reign as Spurs GM. All was can is they look like decent draftees at this point.
Ashes’ Prospects:
David Abernathy
Nicolas Phoenix
Trey Carpenter
Ducky (2 Total Prospects)
Grade- C+
Discussion- Jack Russell was a tweener who wasn’t expected to explode but somehow he did. Amazing for a player that is already added the cyst pool that is the Toronto Raptors. Sammy Carter hasn’t really made any headlines so he looks like an average player so far. Ducky’s other prospects should be more telling of his ability to make prospects.
