Spence's thread about the best fake player ever got me thinking about who the best player, real or fake, is. I wasn't around until about 2010, so it might be a little biased towards later in this version but the first names that come to mind are Durant, Rose, Blair, and Bak. In terms of all round greatness it is hard to argue against Durant, especially since he played at such a high caliber for such an extended period of time.
Feel free to leave your input.

Strictly in terms of efficiency, I think DJ Augustin was the best.

Durant, Dwight, Rose, Bigelow.
Pearson will finish as the best probably.

It has to be Durant. Funny because I think he only ever had one rating above A-, but he was just ridiculous. Probably would've dominated at any position. I'd say Rose is a close enough second, and there aren't many guys who were as good as either of them.
I'd put Josh Smith third overall, and he's probably close to as good as Rose. He mostly sucked late in his career though.
Among the earlier players, Shaq and Pierce stand out in my memory. Zo didn't play for long enough. LeBron was really good and put up amazing stat lines but was never the best player in the league, IMO.
Among big men, Howard and Shaq were the best I can remember. Nenad, Bynum and Oden were great, too.
If West plays for a long enough time, he could be up there.

Josh Smith 3rd? No way. Dwight had a remarkable career.
Elton Brand was nasty too. He had like 15 seasons of 20/10 a year.

Smith had about 8 seasons that were better than Dwight's second best season. Dwight was awesome, but Smith was better.

I don't see how you could name Bigelow and not Smith. Seems like you're forgetting his career.

Durant single handedly got me a championship, so yeah, Durant. You also had Henry too, right? Your offense was really spectacular that year. Durant pretty much single handedly won CC's ship also.

Josh Smith wasn't the best but he is way up there IMO and i would put him in front of Blair.

Durant is definitely the best. Blair and Rose are second and third. Pierce was really sick back in the day as well.

Durant, Rose, Lebron, Blair, Shaq, Smith i'd say are the best players
On the next tier i'd say Dwight, Bynum, Oden, CP3, TP, DJ Augustin for some years, Bigelow, Bak

My championship team was this. C 1/ Brand 2/Cisse 3/Haddadi PF 1/Durant 2/Williams 3/Cisse SF 1/Henry 2/Durant 3/Sanford SG 1/McGahee 2/Henry 3/Roy PG 1/Roy 2/Clark 3/Roy Roy and Durant were probably the two biggest stars on my team. McGahee and Henry I believe were no where near the level they became to be.
