I'm starting to think Bailey is never going to be a good SP in MLB. I think he could develop as a great RP though. I can't wait for Bruce though.

Scott (Kings) is also a Reds fan. We should have put more on the board when Webb fell apart but the Dback D was too much. I don't know if we have ever faced Haren so that scares me game 2 of the series. Griffey did look terrible today. I think the only reason why he ran for that fly ball Patterson easily had was because he hadn't done anything the entire game.haha. patterson gave him a stare down. after the way hopper played last year id like to see him play CF until he proves he cant hit 300+ anymore. though patterson looked solid today. did u watch it on tv? did hudson and dunn jaw at each other from dunns slide or were they bullshitting?

Most reds fans seem to forget that because we have talked about him so much because at one point he was the only guy worth a shit in the minors. He needs to improve his control which has improved but just not enough. He BARELY missed being called up. Dusty and Wayne debated it forever. I think they chose not to have 3 (rookies basically) in the rotation to start the year. Fogg is a decent # 5 and they know what they will get from him. Bailey wont ever be an ace imo, but he doesnt have to be either. I think he can be a strong # 3, solid # 2 for many years.

I watched it on mlb tv but something went wrong with mine and I missed 5th to 7th innings so I have no idea on Dunn and Hudson. Unless it happened some other time and I completely missed it.

Hamilton's looing like a nice deal for Rangers.
Did'nt expect him to be that good defensively. He's supposed to have all kinds of power.

He EASILY has the potential to get the triple crown and win the gold glove. He has the sweetest swing in baseball and one of the best eyes. He also has great speed and a cannon for an arm. If you ever said a player was a 5 tool player it is him. He doesnt have a weakness in the game. His only problem is he will get injured and miss a lot of time and he could relapse at any moment.

The best talent? I mean, he's a great talent, but you don't know that. He's going to have a huge year, sure, but A-Rod's been around for 14 years now. Do you know how many amazing talents have come into baseball since then? I'm pretty sure it's a little early to call him the best talent to come into baseball in any period, drug problems or not.

I think play meant he was the best prospect in baseball since ARod since most scouts say he was. He is one hell of a player and will be very good. He will never play more than 130 games in a season. At least, it doesn't seem like it.
article by stark a couple of weeks ago quoted a scout saying the hamilton volquez trade was the best trade of the offseason for any one team... for the reds
which is crazy because of the spring hamilton had

When Hamilton was in HS (i followed him) he was considered the most talented player to enter baseball since Mickey Mantle and a lot of the people believed he was the most talented player ever. Not only does he is a 5 tool player and the potential to be a triple crown winner, he also had a 94 mph fastball as a left hander. When he was drafted the Rays had to choose whether to use him as a SP or OF. He could have been the # 1 pick as a Pitcher or Hitter. That is easily one of the most talented players of all time to enter baseball then. That doesnt mean he will be one of the best players of all time. He pissed away too many years on drugs for that even to be mentioned. IMO he easily could have rivaled Arod if he kept his head on straight. Anyone who followed him from HS to the minors would agree.

I've known all about Hamilton for a long, long time. That's not my point. My point is that you can't call him the best talent since A-Rod right now because of the number of unreal players who are in the game right now and because he's borderline unproven.

With the fastball he has and the changeup he has he can be so nasty. Plus he has Mario Soto working with him and Soto probably had the best changeup in baseball history.

Being proven and having the talent are 2 different things. thats what im saying. Going into the minors/MLB, Hamilton easily is a top 5 talent all time. That doesnt mean he was going to be a top 5 player of all time or even a top 100. You need a lot more than talent to be successful.

I had to leave after 5th inning to go take stat test when he still had perfect game going. I thought I was going to miss out on history. He got a few borderline strike 3 calls, but he was making a lot of Dbacks look bad at the plate. Byrnes in particular.
