The rule is the sound of the word, not the starting letter. That's you get 7.50 an hour (silent h). If the first sound is a vowel sound, you go with 'an'. Yup. It is "an" RC, not "a" RC.

The "an" was proper. So I guess I now get to say that I hate when people attempt to correct people and are wrong?

Dave, I'm completely not wrong. We're posting as pairs because we both know the rule. It is not "a rc". It doesn't work like that.

Hahah, well last night I posted to correct you when Mark wasn't around. Sounds pretty cliquey.

Phonetically? What are you talking about?
Here, to shut you up, I found an explanation on Wikipedia:
A and an function as the indefinite forms of the grammatical article in the English language and can also represent the number one. An is the older form (related to one, cognate to German ein; etc), now used before words starting with a vowel sound, regardless of whether the word begins with a vowel letter.[citation needed] Examples: a light-water reactor; an LWR; a sanitary sewer overflow; an SSO; a HEPA filter (because HEPA is pronounced as a word rather than as letters); a hypothesis; an hour; a unicorn.

Is it a STFU or an STFU?

Yeah, but last night you were sayin a RC. You don't get to change the subject, because then the article would obviously change. An RC, a reward camp!

So the official ruling on this is Dave is wrong, and should just say he's wrong, and then you can all STFU.
