He is one of the best players i have ever seen in my opinion. I remember watching the world cup in '94 with Romario y Bebeto... Those guys were fucking great.

Romario was my favourite player throughout the 90s. Pure respect for him, although it's about damn time he stopped playing lol. The only thing I hate is the fact that he scored 3 times against us when he played for Barcelona. Horrible memories lol.

I think Tiger's team is Manchester United.
My team is Real Madrid, hands down any sport, well maybe a tie up there with Tampa Bay Bucs, die hard fan of both.
Also like to watch Arsenal(Love you Tiger), Celta De Vigo, Bayern Munich, and Sevilla/Villareal

Reports are saying that Juventus was in Madrid this evening to sign Mahmadou Diarra and Gonzalo Higuain from Real Madrid, honestly, fine by me, both have been riding the bench for most of the season.
Gago has played phenomanally well, and forced Diarra to the bench(Going to the African Cup of Nations killed him, he was a starter every single match until he went).
Higuain shows signs of brilliance sometimes but is to inconsistent, granted he still very young, not a big fan though.

Good thread.
I support Leicester City FC in Europe (my mum and her family were born/lived there) and Melbourne Victory FC in Australia. I also obviously support the Australian national team. I have soft spots for Liverpool and England too so I 'follow' their results and will route for them during games. Liverpool because I just like them lol and England because I followed them from every World Cup since 1994 until 2006 when Australia made it.
I HATE Serie A and Italian football with a passion. I do love the Italian style of support though. I don't mind La Liga but find it incredibly boring. Slow pace, very technical but overall not very exciting. EPL ftw.
BTW about Romario, FINALLY! He played a few games in the Australian League (A-League) last year for Adelaide United (was paid $$$$$$$$$ per game) and he just stunk. The A-League sucks, I admit that and I'm not saying it is any good, but Romario made other attacking midfielders look like the next coming of Pele, he was fat, overweight and just plain shit. It was so dissapointing going to watch a legend of the game and see him torture his reputation on the pitch.
My dream one day is to travel Europe with a mate to watch football. Watch 3 or so EPL games in England, a few Championship games and even some League 1/2 stuff. Catch the train to France and watchs ome football there, in Portugal (Sporting), Spain, Italy, Greece, Germany, Switzerland, Norway etc... DREAMY.

I'll never get why you say Spain's league is so boring, to me and to everyone I talk to say it's the most exciting, but I guess to each it's own.

as if it couldn't get any crazier with Ronaldinho and AC Milan.... they are reporting in Spain that Milan would also bring Deco, Zambrotta, and and Rafa Marquez along with Ronaldinho to AC Milan.... what are they going to do with all these players? Does this mean the doors are going to be open for Kaka to leave?
Who knows.

Wow, I actually hope all of this happens because I care for neither team and it would be great to have 2 teams (super teams) change so much. Thats massive though. Also...
Uniteds Huge Ronaldo Pricetag Madrid have long been admirers of the Portugal international, with Spanish media regularly linking the club with a big-money swoop for the 23-year-old winger.
However, Queiroz, who spent a year in charge at the Bernabeu before returning to his former position as Sir Alex Ferguson's right-hand man at United in 2004, insists even a world-record transfer fee would not tempt the reigning Barclays Premier League champions into selling their biggest star.
"We would not sell him for 120million euros," Queiroz was reported as saying in Spanish newspaper Marca.
"You can offer all the money in the world, but there is no amount that can buy him."
Despite the comments from Queiroz, Madrid still have their hopes pinned on landing Ronaldo.
Spanish daily Marca quoted the Spanish club's sporting director, Predrag Mijatovic, as saying they have highlighted the Portugal star as the man to lead the nine-times European champions into a new era.
He said: "Real Madrid is one of the most prestigious teams in world football and for that reason we should have the best players in the world.
"Our members were lucky enough to see Zinedine Zidane in the white shirt and we miss that period when we were winning the Champions League.
"For that reason, we want Cristiano Ronaldo to be the face of the new Real Madrid."

I talk about active support a bit, for anyone that isn't sure what the standards like for my team here in Melbourne, here are 2 pics from our last game (pre-game pics) against Gamba Osaka. I have a blue and white flag in there, I'll get pait out to circle it later.

Did you see the game against us at the weekend? Adebayor scored by using his hand and although they had a lot of possession in the first half, they didn't put away their chances. I hate watching teams that "dominate" with possession but don't score. What's the point in having 60% possession then losing the match? It's stupid and I hate the way Arsenal play. No, I just hate Arsenal. Wenger is a dickhead.

I agree with this completely. The dominance of English teams is clear too, with the massive presence in the Champions League recently. Four English teams - Man United, Liverpool, Arsenal and Chelsea, are all legitimately and consistently capable of winning the Champions League, and I can't say the same for any other league. Most have one, two or maybe even three capable, but none can boast 4 imo.

Italy is #1 with 11 championships and 14 runner-ups. Spain is #2 with 11 championships and 9 runner-ups. England is #3 with 10 championships and 4 runner-ups. While yes, this is the year of English team and more than likely an English team will win the championship this year as I don't see Barcelona winning it, but still, by statistics alone Italy and Spain have always been the two dominant countries in most any competition. Look at the UEFA Cup for Example 2006/2007 it was two Spanish teams in the finals Sevilla vs. Espanyol 2005/2006 Sevilla beat Middlesbourough 2003/2004 Valencia beat Marseille.

Fair points, and I know historically about all this, but we're watching modern football, and I was talking about recent times. To me, the Premier League is the most competitive league in the world and I just don't enjoy watching other leagues. I'll watch the odd big games if I can, like Barca vs Real, but I won't go out of my way to do so. I just don't think it's as exciting or fast paced as watching the English league. Although having said that, there are obviously good and bad matches to watch, and it's not the case that every game in England is played at top level etc etc. Each to their own really. I'm probably biased because I live here and have lived here all my life, growing up watching Man United play, with my Dad. Same goes for you with La Liga I'm guessing.

Yeah your right it depends on what you grew up on, but still I totally disagree that La Liga is "boring." It's a lot more fast paced than the Premier league, and I'm not being biased. English league is just long ball after long ball after long ball. If there is a boring league, it's the Italian league since 90% of the teams are built around defense, but there's a reason why they call "La Liga" the "League of Stars." I mean alot of big names in England have come from, played or wanted to come to Spain to play... Henry, Michael Owen, Fabregas, Xabi Alonso, Fernando Torres, Cristiano Ronaldo, David Beckham, Makelele, Anelka, McManaman, Robben, Kanoute, Heinze, Van Nistelroy etc etc.

I don't think La Liga is boring though, Serie A is boring to me, and La Liga is my next favourite league, but I'm not so sure football in Spain is as competitive as it is in England. I agree, there's a lot of route 1 football in English football, but to be honest, that keeps defenders on their toes and shows that, when successful, attackers are outwitting and outpowering defenders.
One issue I have about Spanish football teams like Barca and Real is that I just think the way Spanish teams play, it promotes a sort of laziness. You mentioned the likes of Beckham and Owen. When they went to Real they both became lazy. Beckham wasn't busting a gut to win the ball as much as he was when he was at United (and I do not blame age for that), and Owen was sidelined on the bench for most of his time there, not improving his game at all.
I'd say the same for Ronaldo when he was in that team, and that Madrid led to his downfall as a player. That generation, where Zidane, Figo, Carlos et al were playing at Madrid, were fantastic passers and technically brilliant, but I just didn't see the effort levels there that I see in players in England.
I'd say Cristiano Ronaldo would fit in very nicely at Real for example, because as much as I love his talent and his ability, little things piss me off, like his diving, although that's stopped a lot recently, and the fact that he doesn't make the right choices at times because he plays more for himself or the money moreso than for the team. I see these negative aspects of his game as the way I see Spanish football to be honest. It's why I also hate Chelsea lol.

And my favourite player is Wayne Rooney. I honestly think the way he plays football is how football should be played, and that's how English football should be. He has the effort, the joy for the game, the passion, and he has the skills too. But if he loses the ball he doesn't complain about it like Ronaldo does, he works he ass off to go get the damn ball back. When Rooney goes down, he gets right back up, but when Ronaldo goes down, he stays down.
Meh, I'm just getting picky now about Ronaldo LOL.

I agree with Cristiano Ronaldo and most any other Portguese player they are ALL floppers. The only 2 Portuguese players I really like are Pepe on Real Madrid and Miguel on Valencia, they play for the Portuguese national team but not Portuguese-born haha. Everytime I've seen Rooney play though I've seen him get a card for complaining to the ref about every single call, so I don't know if he's matured since the last time I've saw him, but everytime I saw him play he was bitching and complaining or getting into a fight with somebody.
