What are your plans for this team this year. What do you hope to accomplish and how do you plan on accomplishing that. What should we expect from the Minnesota Timberwolves this year?
You know what? I have no fucking clue. We had a mixed bag in the offseason followed by a mixed bag in FA. I don't know how competitive my team would have been were Toine healthy for all of last year. At this point in time, only the Mavs and Warriors are clearly better teams than me in the West, yet I don't feel we have the pieces to be a title contender. The direction of my team is going to be determined by what's available - if I can get some nice offers for McDyess and Toine, I'll tear it down. If I can find some cheap producers for expiring and picks, I'll go for broke on that. It's not really in my control at this point, I'm waiting to see what the market will give me. In other words, I'm not forcing direction with these guys, I'm going to let the direction come to me.
Who is the hardest GM to trade with? Who are the GM's that are most reluctant to move their players.
Quackers is a bitch to deal with. He's always flip flopping on what he wants to offer and he never listens. I might just be saying this because of a PM conversation we had today though. The fucking guy offers me expiring and two picks for Toine. I tell him it's not even close. He's all like "really? wow I thought it was a good offer" and I'm all like "well nah, I don't want it, I want a lot more" and so he's all like "well, I could give two picks and Sofo but no more" so I'm all like "dude, I just told you that offer wasn't close, gtfo" and he's all like "ok, how about three picks?" ... fucking Quackers.
GM Pickem
Right now we have 5 matchups of GM's to open off with. You tell me who is better and why.
Krupinski vs Reilly vs Outlawz
Starting off with the big dogs eh? Gotta go with Krup here, and I'll tell ya why. Reilly and Outlawz are both excellent evaluators of talent and know the proper way to construct a winning team. There might not be a better depth chart guy than Outlawz in sims, and he always constructs winners. But Krup is simply more active than any GM in the league. He pursues every tiny little insignificant trade that other GMs are just too lazy to go out and get to tinker with his team. It's the small things here - Krup's attention to detail makes him the clear cut favorite here.
Haberman vs Mark vs Basone
I'm going Mark on this one. Haberman put together a really great team last year which continues to be sick this year, but ... when's the next time he has a pick? 2053? I'm the type of GM who doesn't believe in sacrificing your future for the sake of winning immediately, and Habes was just throwing future firsts away like it was nothing last year. Basone is a decent GM but hasn't shown me anything special since he's been here. Mark is really solid. Makes good value deals and shows patience and long term planning with his team. DCs are always on point too. I just see him as building better franchises than the other two in the long run.
Nova vs Skillz vs Ducky
Skillz in a walk. Nova is a poor talent evaluator, and I never really like the construction of his teams - there's no theme or balance to them. My thoughts on Quackers are outlined above, though I should say that he's always put winner's together. Skillz is a really good GM though, despite the inconsistency in his teams. He makes great value trades, all the time. He always finds a way to have talent that meshes together on his teams, and that is difficult to do. And he is never afraid to pull the trigger on a deal. That's not always a good thing, but it can be a great thing when it comes to taking the necessary risks needed to build a championship team.
Scott vs Blue vs Greggor
I don't fucking know. Haven't seen enough of Scott or Blue to really judge what they've done. Greg is a decent GM but nothing special from what I've seen. Even so, he knows how to maximize value on players (Ben Wallace for Shaun Livingston, are you kidding?) and has put together a damn solid team, so I guess I'll go with him. Blue gets 2nd because he makes sick sigs. White Magic baby!
James vs Andy vs Maniac
First of all, James is crap. Ok, now that we've taken care of that one, I think Maniac is a sick GM, but Andy is on a different level. He's one of the best sim league GMs of all time. Think back to every sim you've been in with Andy - he's had a championship caliber team, or created in dynasty in all of them, right? Few guys understand FBB as well as Andy does, few guys are able to shift gears from rebuilding to contending how he does, and very, very few guys are able to tank as well as he does. Andy is a legend, straight up.
Who is the most overrated GM in this league and why?
Spencer. Seriously, that guy doesn't do shit with his team.
Who is the most underrated GM in this league and why?
Aar. Like Andy, I've never been in a sim with Aar when he didn't have a title contending team or a dynasty at some point. He only makes good trades. He does a great job of projecting value onto his players and getting serious pieces for them. And he sticks to the direction of his team remarkably well too, never straying for a tempting deal. I feel like he gets very little respect here which is a shame, because he's always been a top 5 GM in my eyes.
This week on the Hot Seat we have the call-out seat. You are viewed as a premier GM among the sims of the internet. This is your chance to call-out GM's as you please. Whether you think your better then them, whether they think they are better then they really are, whether there annoying. This is your chance to take out your fury on the league. Please for the sake of integrity get out all the thoughts and don't be nice. What you shall say is completely up to you.
Play is gay.
What, more? Alright. Haberman never should've made so many damn deals last season, he had a sick roster than was dominating games and he got nervous because of a few bad losses and blew it up. He went trade crazy and it hurt his team for the season and for the future. I think when he looks back on that season, he's going to regret all of the trades, and especially the sacrifice of all his picks.
Outlawz has to stop bitching about Pierce going down in the playoffs. Injuries happen, you lost, get over it, win the title this year. You know you can. You lost last season because when your team matched up with Krup's in the Finals, his was better. End story. Fuck your asterisks.
On that note, Krup shouldn't be gloating about beating a team that didn't have their best player. How easy were the playoffs for you this year man? You had a first round matchup with the #8 seed, got my team without Dunleavy or Toine in the second round, got the fucking Lakers (the fucking LAKERS?!) in the Conference Finals and then a Knicks team without Pierce in the Finals. Yeah, you won the title, no one's taking that away from you, but with the way each series played out for you, the guys you were matching up with each time ... if you had lost a single one of those series' it would've been a MAJOR upset. You had a cake walk to the 'ship. Win it this year and I'll be impressed.
And some quick hits ...
Unless Nova trades Yao, his team will be spinning wheels for the next five years. But he won't do it, and he won't win a title, and he'll probably blame it on some form of luck or bullshit like that. Thanks for West, though.
I can't believe Jah traded Garnett for Wade. Great, now he gets to sit on another superstar with a mediocre team around him for 10 seasons. Playoff streak, here we come! At least TRY win a fucking title one of these years Jah.
Pig must be on some fucking serious crack to come up with these questions. Especially the one below this one. Like, who the fuck am I? Do I have 2 hours to organize your super league? I don't even want to answer that shit. And when I do answer it, you better believe I'm not putting a shitload of thought into it. I don't got that kinda time. I got a job interview in 10 hours! Dick.
And finally ... what the fuck is the deal with my weed man? Like, I need some herbs to sleep. Why is your phone disconnected? If you sold me some goddamn weed, you'd could get that shit reconnected, just be calling people all the time. All you need to do is sell me drugs. Asshole.
And finally the climax of this hot seat. BBS decides to join up with NBN to make a superleague. You are placed as the commish of this league. Out of 28 GM's in this league excluding yourself (and lets make pretend that there are no GM's in both leagues) you have to create 4 different groups. You need 8 GM's who are locks for the league. You also need 8 GM's who are omitted from the league. Out of the 12 remaining GM's there are 6 spots left. Please name these 12 GM's who would be grouped in this category and choose the 6 that you would be best suited for the league and why they are there over the other 6. Keep in mind every aspect that makes a quality BBS GM. Experience, Ability and Activity should all be kept in mind.
What? Put the pipe down Pig. Alright I'm gunna try and do it step by step and just hope I don't get too too confused.
Locks:
1. Krup
2. Outlawz
3. Reilly
4. Andy
5. Aar
6. Maniac
7. Skillz
8. Jordan
These guys are on the list because, quite frankly, I think they're the 8 best GMs in the league. That is what makes a good league, having talented GMs who care about their teams and are always pursuing and making quality trades, consistently aiding the competitive nature of the league. Without seriously quality GMs, your league will suck.
Hell No:
1. Marty
2. Galo
3. Keetly
4. Jah
5. Allstar
6. Play
7. Nanz
8. Quackers
This was a tough list to make. Honestly, the last three are guys who I would definitely have in any sim I started. Play gets cut because he devotes a shitload of time to the NBN, and I just don't think he has the motivation to be as active in other leagues as a result. Nanz I just don't know enough about. Quackers is the commish of another league and sometimes gets on my nerves, especially when discussing off topic things, so he is my reluctant last cut, despite him being a very, very good GM.
Oh, the other five just aren't as active as a lot of the league, simply put. Well, except Marty and Allstar, and they are both just fucking terrible.
The Last 6 In:
1. Ebener
2. Tiger
3. Mark
4. Haberman
5. Pig
6. Basone
Eb and Tiger are awesome active GMs who just missed being placed on my top 8 guaranteed list. And I mean, what kind of league would this be if we didn't have the New Canaan Boys kicking around? I can't take one of them and leave the rest out. I also think getting some bomber jackets with "New Canaan Boys" printed across the back is in order. Yeeeeeee.
The Last 6 Cut:
1. Nova
2. DJ
3. Greg
4. Blue Devils
5. Scott
6. James
Again, this list is kinda difficult to make because these are all guys who would be top GMs in most leagues. Nova should really be in, he's crazy active and obviously cares about his team, I just feel he isn't quite as skilled as the guys above him. But he's a great GM, no doubt. DJ is one of the more talented GMs in the league, but his activity hurts him. Greg is such an awesome guy that I'd probably make room for him no matter what, but on a list like this, he just doesn't make the cut. Blue Devils and Scott, as previously mentioned, I just don't know enough about. And James is a floppy haired Australian, so obviously he's gone. Fucking James.
There Pig, are you happy? I played your demented little game for an hour. I should get a free RC for this shit, +5 anywhere I want it, no doubt.
