i do believe it should be a case by case basis though. what if someone was in their contract year and their team was really good and their star player got injured for a long time. i dont think that GM would deserve to be fired.

I was frustrated with it at the beginning but I know I loved it when I had succesful teams so I have to take the good with the bad.
My only problem is GM's ruining their teams for the sake of 6 more wins. Ie, I think Galo did a good job acquiring Butler, but at the cost of the franchises next 3 first round draft picks?
Apart from that, it's good. If I get fired I'll be very disappointed as I love the BBS but I'd like to think I'd get a job somewhere else further down the line.
In saying that, I hope we are safe and I remain in Cleveland when TD joins the club.

If he had set himself up to add a star player the season prior, he wouldn't have put himself in a bad position and have to overpay. Teams have to smart about it... I think it's a bad idea to wait till your contract year to start winning anyway.

I think it's a bad idea to wait till your contract year to start winning anyway. The main thing is it isn't hard to make the playoffs. Its hard to win in the playoffs, or win 50 games, but making the playoffs should be something any GM can accomplish. Also, you cant wait for your contract year to perform. You need to get into the playoffs before your contract year. This leads me to the thing I love most about the contract year. YEar to year, the race for the playoffs is more interesting. When teams decide to tank halfway through the year in most leagues, they dont think about trying to make the playoffs, so sometimes those teams become inactive. With the Contract year, lots of Gms try and win and sneak into the playoffs instead of trying to get a lotto pick because it is more valuable in most cases to make the playoffs, then to get the 12th or 13 th pick. This is why I think BBS is more realistic then other sim leagues.

I agree with everything you said. Next year will be year 3 for me, and I'm planning on using my picks to add players that will help me win.
