Yeah fuck forgot Verizon doesn't use sim cards... and that's another reason why Verizon blows. Yea it blows since scumbags cant steal your cellphone and just throw in there own sim cards for there own selfish needs. GSM wont last much longer its crap and cannot be upgraded much more. There is way to many limitations. So we will continue to suck along till we are the last ones remaining lol.

We're getting cell phones that came out last year in Europe.

We're getting cell phones that came out last year in Europe. Actually Asia is all switching over the CDMA so they will not be using sim cards soon. It just takes time since its expensive. Europe is mostly flat so GSM still works very well. Also they mostly text and dont talk to much on the phone. Text works totally different and easier to transmit. Plus in those countries most dont have a retarded FCC telling them what they can do till they pay billions to them. Other thing is they dont have contracts so they pay way more for cellphones then we do. By having contracts we can sell the phones alot cheaper.

Lums, question. I have a Verizon, very old model, and it gets awful service. Would a new model get better service? My friends all get service in my house, and I don't get a thing. Which phone has the best service? I will buy that one.

I haven't heard of anything about Asia all switching over to CDMA, so I can't comment on that but as for Europe. You're right, texting is much more common than actual phone calls, AMONGST teenagers, just like it is more common here in the states for people around my age or younger to use texting more than actual phone calls. No contracts in Europe? Bull. There are people with contracts, again, the majority of people without phones with contracts are the younger crowd and phones are MUCH MUCH cheaper in Europe than here, regardless of contract or no contract. The Sony Ericsson w810i which was my previous phone before the Motorola Z9 I got cost me about $300.00, that same phone in Europe cost almost half of that, and had already been out for 6 months.

oh and Verizon doesn't believe in sim cards not for technological reasons, but for monetary reasons.
They want to become a "monopoly" a-la Microsoft and dominate the cell-phone market, that will never happen. Sim cards, to me, are essential part of cell phones and despite the fact that you say Verizon phones can not be unlocked is also bull. The phone CAN be unlocked it just won't work on any non-CDMA network.
