Today some woman called my cell phone (I have no idea how she got my number) and asked me about working for a company called Vector Marketing. This company sells Cutco Cutlery. My first impression was that this was pretty phony as I have never contacted a company called Vector for employment. The lady tried to explain to me that working for this company has many incentives such as pay starting at $16/hour, being your own boss, and making your own schedule. At this point I knew she was completely full of shit and told her to call me back later because I was at work (which I really was). When she called back I never answered the phone because I wanted to do a little research. HENCE, I come across numerous websites containing information on why this is a scam! They target college and HS kids with lots of sweet talk etc, too bad you have to sit though 20 hours of unpaid training and then have to PAY THEM in order to start selling THEIR MERCHANDISE. Pretty awesome concept, huh? Needless to say there are countless experiences of students getting ripped off at the hands of this company ( The average worker makes less than $3 per day.) They have settled in court for cases of fraud (This has happened multiple times). The lesson of the day is, since I know at least half of us on the forum are HS/college students if this company calls tell them where to shove it and don't waste your time. I am actually kind of excited to have this woman call me back.
Have a Good Day BBS!

A bunch of my friends worked for Cutco last summer. One ended up making 8000 in 2 months. The others quit because they didn't want to do all of the work.

The knives they sell are crazy. They are guaranteed forever. Some people pass them down since you can always get a new one.
If you don't take the time to call a lot of people in one area you end up wasting gas money driving around. If people want or need new knives it seemed like they sold themselves (According to my friends). They said you got bonuses and new items to sell for the more product you sold.

Vector is one of the biggest scams out there. They send mail to high schoolers and tell them that they will make $16/hour - the catch is that it's all commission from overpriced knives
