Went to a pretty sick tournament today in the Bronx. Watched a ton of the top prospects, but watched three games more closely.
First game had the #11 prospect (just moved up to #5 on one list) Dominic Cheek. He was exactly like TMac and just did whatever he wanted. Easily the best player I saw today.
Next got to watch a California kid, Renardo Sydney. Top 5 prospect, huge body, but really lacked motivation. He showed his potential grabbing some monster rebounds and had one monster dunk, but he was a clumsy out there. Lots of potential, but also a ton of hype. Any California guys see him play?
Last got to watch Lance Stephenson. I was real excited to see him, but he was such a dissapointment. Only played the first half, complained after ever call, and was benched for the entire second half. He had one ridiculous crossover, but nothing more.
Any of you guys get to see these guys? In my view, Cheek is easily the best out of the three and will have a great career in college/NBA. Sydney/Stephenson have been pampered their entire lives, and it showed by their behavior on the court. Cheek plays on St. Anthony's while the others play for their fathers/guys who kiss their ass. Cheek just took care of business.

That's pretty sick. Cheek goes to school pretty close to where I'm from.

Cheek = St. Anthonys and he is definitely awesome. I think he was the key to their team this year even more so than Mike Rosario. I got to see him play a few times this past season and he is definitely as good as Aaron claims.
I agree with what you say about Stephenson being pampered however I think its hard to base an opinion off of him by only seeing him play 1 half. He is definitely a very very talented player. I'm surprised slightly about his behavior at such a large AAU event as the Rumble in the Bronx. I'd expect something like you say at a high school game but not AAU.
I have a lot of contacts who were at this tourney fri, sat, and tomorrow. Aaron you should have given me a call I would have went if I knew you were going.

yeah, he plays for my good friends aau team. he's actually going to start working out with my partner to prep for team usa. really looking forward to seeing where he ends up with college. doubt it happens, but i'd love to see him at nova.
and i've seen lance play before. he's an absolute stud, but it's the little things like his attitude which separates cheek and him.

I drafted Sidney in BBS, and he did not develop into a star at all. First pick, bust, fuck.

Oh yea Maniac how do you feel about Orlando Antigua leaving Pitt to go to Memphis? He might have been your ticket to Dominick Cheek but I wouldn't be surprised if he winds up at Memphis now with him there doing recruiting for Calipari. Its a very interesting coaching carousel in college basketball. Chuckie Martin goes from St. John's to Memphis then gets hired as head coach at Marist. He takes one of my friends that he used to coach with at St. John's to be Director of Basketball Operations there and St. John's will most likely hire Oz Cross to replace him so they will be linked to many NY AAU teams. Martin was a big recruiter for Memphis and now they have Antigua to replace him as they both have great NY ties. This all flies under the radar to most but these are all crucial moves for college teams which is why I love the college game.
Also its all about who you know. Some of these guys aren't great basketball minds but they have so many connections which make them hot commodities. I'm very happy to see Aaron getting out to these tourneys to network which will pay off big time if he continues his career as an agent.
