A rumoured deal that would have sent Indiana's Jermaine O'Neal to Toronto was given life and was being reported in both cities, but it fizzled last night. The would-be deal had O'Neal coming to Toronto in exchange for point guard T. J. Ford, centre Rasho Nesterovic, Toronto's No. 17 pick in Thursday's draft and possibly another player.
But last night, the deal appeared to be no more. -- National Post
There appears to be one major sticking point with the deal, and it surrounds the key players involved. The Raptors have concerns about O'Neal's left knee and the Pacers are worried about Ford's durability.

According to sources, the Raptors are still talking to the Phoenix Suns about a deal centred around T.J. Ford and Boris Diaw and there are "about three" other teams actively talking to Toronto about Ford. The sources weren't clear on which other teams are involved in the talks, although one league source said the Portland Trail Blazers, who need a point guard, are not among them.

Teams such as Portland and New Jersey reportedly have an interest in Leandro Barbosa, while Toronto and Charlotte might be tempted to pick up the final three years and $36 million on deal. Toronto would like to part with point guard T.J. Ford, who led Terry Porter's Milwaukee team to the playoffs four years ago. But Ford, who isn't the bigger, defensive-minded backup to Steve Nash that Phoenix is seeking, has three years and $25 million left on his deal.
The Suns might be more interested in center Rasho Nesterovic, who has only one year left on his $8.4 million deal, as a backup to O'Neal. That would mean looking for Nash's backup elsewhere.

Ford's health really is just a matter of not getting mauled and dislocating something in his back, but he's a pretty explosive player. I would start both of them and just run all day...fuck defense!!! I think the first is as valuable as JO though. The guy was so bad last year, looked like he lost every ounce of athleticism.

You must be from "south jersey." I live on Exit 135. Belmar is what 100? It's definitely not an "hour" from NY. It's an hour from Clark to Belmar. And I live in "Central Jersey." Us Central/North Jersey folk call Belmar SOUTH Jersey, because it's in the SOUTHERN part of NJ.
