CC to the Brewers ends this conversation. Except CC wasn't the main conversation No, not what I meant. CC is now on the Brewers, an NL Central team. It boosts them to a borderline elite team, thus boosting the NL Central. To me, the NL Central was better pre-CC. Now it isn't a question.

They've played extremely well this week.

This is going to make the Brewers very hard to beat down the road if Sheets can stay healthy

They've played extremely well this week. Yeah I know, good series against the Phillies, tonights game was exciting. Howard has 123 strikeouts, record is 199. I hope the Mets can use the momentum from playing well lately after the allstar(0608) break.

My cousin got the call up last week, JA Happ on the Phillies. Went to the same high school as me too. Get's his second start wednesday on ESPN.

Tomorrow's game is extremely important. Take 3 of 4, pull within 2.5 with 6 home games leading into the AS break. Regardless, they've won 4 games on their 8 game road trip, which is a pretty nice accomplishment considering it was 4 at STL, 4 at PHI. One more win would be sweet. I'm really curious to see how Pedro does. He has had his FB the whole time, which makes it kind of weird that the numbers haven't been there. He's gone 5 straight starts with 5+ earned runs or more. There comes a point where he stops being "Pedro Martinez" and starts being just a ridiculously ineffective pitcher. I have a ton of faith in him because his velocity has been fine (and I'll never worry about his control/off-speed pitches, even though they've both been off so far) but he needs to eventually start performing. Tomorrow would be a nice time to start.

Yeah, he was so nervous. He's been so good in the minors and should demand for a trade, because he would be a starter on most teams. That bullshit call against Wright had me throwing shit.

Mark, did you see that pitch in the 5th where they called it a ball for Wright? Would have ended the inning

Well, he obviously cannot demand a trade, but yeah, his AAA numbers this year were very good. Looks like he got lit up last year, plus his one start in the bigs. I wonder how highly they value him. His stuff is mediocre, but he got it done on Friday, and he does have a good K rate.

He's got a very deceptive motion which helps his fastball alot. His curveball and changeup are + pitches for him as well. He was hurt all of last year, and probably shouldn't have pitched against the Mets them because he was injuired, but I mean who would pass that up when your fighting so hard for it? They value him to the point where they don't want to get rid of him, but he has been mentioned in a trade of him and victorino for bedard.

The strike zone on Friday was really narrow from left to right. Simply put, even on that day it was a strike. All it came down to was a no name rookie pitcher against an all star. Made me sick

Then again, pitching against the Mets as a fairly inexperienced pitcher and having success isn't very telling. Last year's start notwithstanding, inexperienced pitchers tend to do very well against the Mets. It's weird. He sits in the high 80s, right?

his fastball will reach 93 in the game, consistently around 87-90, but it's weird because he's always been a K pitcher, and led his AAA league in K's. It's the deception and it's a very live pitch,

It's the deception and it's a very live pitch, Yeah, more than a K per inning in the minors over his career. That's really impressive. He didn't have ace stuff, but taking a closer look at his minor league numbers, I like him a lot. I think the Doug Davis comparison is a good one.

His biggest worry was his location, but he has been great with that this year. He didn't locate well last week, but that's expected when you just come up. If he get's the chance to settle down, he's going to make it for good.

Really, really great HR rate too. Cool. Looks like a good fit for CBP. He's got a better HR rate in the minors than Pelfrey, and Pelf isn't a fly ball pitcher at all.
