FIVE FUCKING DAYS! The Steelers report to camp on the 27th - so excited. I really, really need football season to come around. Baseball just never quite cuts it for me.
We needed an NFL Thread. Yeeee.

Yeah, that's the one detractor. I can deal with it though, I guess. Football season makes me happy enough to overcome school - especially when I have high expectations going into the year.

Why? I like the Green Bay team. if Favre plays anywhere else that would be one of the worst things to watch my original post was more about coach rod being gone at wvu and things not being the same there

Your schedule makes me sick. Cincy and Baltimore both suck. They will remain bad. I think that should be four wins right there. The Browns are horribly overrated in my opinion. It's only a matter of time until they have a full blown coaching controversey there. Plus, they can't beat the Steelers. That could be another two wins. We've swept the division before and could do it again. However, lets just say the Steelers slip up somewhere and get five division wins. I see Pittsburgh beating Houston at home to start the season. Six wins. They could realistically start the season off 4-0: Houston, @cleveland, @philly, Ravens. If they win the Houston, Philly games that puts them at eight wins. I really don't think they'll lose all of the following: @jacksonville, Giants, @redskins, Colts, Chargers, @patriots, Cowboys, @titans. I'll never be optimistic against the Jaguars, Patriots. However, I think they beat the Giants at home, win @redskins, @titans, and at least one of the Colts, Chargers, Cowboys home games. That's 11 wins right there. I can see it happening. The offense has so many weapons this year - if the line can come together then this team will be dangerous.

I just think it's insane that they play the Jags, Colts, Chargers, Patriots, Cowboys. Texans are slowly geting better, that opener won't be a gimme.

Not sure what to expect for the Packers. Not setting high expectations at all.

unless the Packers locker room is pissed about the Favre situation (I've read they aren't) then the team should win at least 8 games imo

The Jets and Tampa Bay Buccaneers have expressed interest in Favre, according to a Packers source. - ESPN.COM
Bucs are going to land Favre, no way he goes to NY.

Garcia might've saved Gruden's job... they're not kicking him to the curb.

Garcia might've saved Gruden's job... they're not kicking him to the curb. They did it to him in San Francisco, Detroit, and Philly, Gruden will be the LAST person to hesitate, lmao. I hate Gruden he's the only thing I hate about Tampa Bay, that championship we won should have been Dungy's. Gruden got Jake Plummer after getting Garcia, only Plummer decided to retire, he'll get Favre if he gets the chance. The reason I say Favre won't go to NY, is basically that he's said he wants to play in a southern team, being that he's from Louisiana what better place then int he same division as the Saints?

San Fran let him go as a cap casualty, he was horrible in Detroit and Cleveland so they understandably let him go, and TB offered a bigger contract than Philly... it's not as if they didn't want him back. Favre never said he wanted to play for a southern team. He actually said he wanted to play in a cold-weather city, thus eliminating TB as a possibility.

Ideal Destinations
At 6-1, we have the Tampa Bay Buccaneers: Jon Gruden loves collecting quarterbacks, and this would be his greatest catch of all. If Favre becomes available, it wouldn't be a shocker if the Buccaneers make a run at him. And if they do, Tampa could be attractive to Favre. This is another team to watch.
7-1 Carolina Panthers: This could be an intriguing possibility, although on Saturday The Charlotte Observer reported that Panthers general manager Marty Hurney dismissed an Internet report that Favre was interested in playing for Carolina. That said, Favre probably would like to play in the South, and the Panthers are a good quarterback away from being a solid playoff contender. Jake Delhomme can be effective, but he is coming off elbow surgery. If Favre comes back and is no longer a Packer, keep an eye on the Panthers.
8-1 Baltimore Ravens: This could be a real possibility if Favre really wants to play this season. Baltimore is a decent team in need of a quarterback. Sure, the Ravens took Delaware QB Joe Flacco in the first round of the April draft. But no one would blame the Ravens for holding off on the Flacco era in favor of Favre for a year or two. If Favre wants to come back, Baltimore could be a place to consider.
25-1 Minnesota Vikings: This is the perfect landing spot for Favre. The Vikings are the best team in need of a quarterback. The addition of Favre would make Minnesota an instant Super Bowl contender. But there's a problem: The Packers likely would never let that happen.
