He tore the lateral meniscus in his left knee. Sucks for the Giants,

I'm hope he recovers fast and well. That's a devestating injury for a guy who uses his speed as an advantage

Kind of sucks that he was out there in the first place. There's really no reason for him to play in the preseason

Yeah, well, soon enough there will only be two preseason games and starters will see no playing time and everyone will be happy.

I disagree, starters need playing time to gel and to get ready. For example, the Jags got Jerry Porter this offseason and he needs a preseason game to gel with QB Garrard. OTA and TC is nothing now considering they barely even hit which leaves no chance to get in a groove. I don't think they should be in long but I think they need to be in there to get some chemistry going.

The difference is Osi's been with the Giants for 5 seasons and now and is in his second season with Spagnuolo... Joey Porter's new and needs to get accustomed to the Jags offense in game situations

Well exactly, but my point is traning camp is getting less physical every year, you need some kind of tune up before the season regardless if your in a transition year or not.

You need the preseason but not 4. 2 or 3 should be enough.

You need the preseason but not 4. 2 or 3 should be enough. I'm not disputing that... Preseason is useful for new players to gel with their team as well as evaluating young players and guys trying out for the team. I agree that it should be shortened.

yep, i think nearly everyone agrees that preseason is a necessity, it's just that 2/3 games would be much better for everyone. but hey, it's all about the money!

true but they'd make a shitload more money by adding two regular season games rather than having two extra preseason games

"“According to a source close to the future Hall of Famer, all it would take to get the 37-year-old Strahan to end his 77-day retirement would be $8 million and a few kind words,” reports Vacchiano."

Also, Newsday is going to run some article apparently:
Tom Rock at Newsday thinks theres a 50/50 chance Umenyiora could be back in a month. Newsday plans to run a story tomorrow in which a leading orthopedic surgeon says that if it is just a torn meniscus and there is no other unrevealed ligament damage, there is a better than 50 percent chance that Umenyiora would be ready to play inside a month.

this really sucks. Even as a Giants fan I feel that they have no shot to repeat this year with this happening. Everyone had them written off anyway, so whatever.

true but they'd make a shitload more money by adding two regular season games rather than having two extra preseason games Not really. They'd make a little more on concessions, but the tickets are already sold. Season ticket holders have to buy preseason tickets. It's an awful rip-off, sure, but that's how they maintain their revenue stream through the preseason.

Sucks for the Giants. I thought they were going to have a down season and maybe miss the playoffs and this makes me think even more that way.
There is no way we are going away from 4 preseason games.
Players don't get payed for preseason games and everything costs the same at the games. The owners make way too much money to change it

Jordan, do you know anything about PSLs and the fights going on? Lots is about to change, you can trust me on that. 18 reg season games and 2 preseason games which will likely be made optional for ssn ticket holders. It's incredibly likely that there will be a big shakeup.
