Picking up Walter was huge, he had a sick game.
Garrard & Fitzgerald also had nice weeks, as did Scobee.
If I lose, it'll be because of Lavernues Coles. Bastard got 28 points.

So Marty what was that about the Cardinals being beating the Jets?
I told you that you were overeacting to their 2-0 start... Warner is a fucking mess under any kind of pressure.

For fuck's sake, are you a Jets fan or a Favre fan? You're pissing me off. Worry about the damn defense. shit happens when you only rush three on every play. I didn't like the second half defensive play-calling, and I don't think we should've been calling off the dogs so early, but we have a really good defense. We were brilliant in the first half. Blame Bob Sutton if anything.

But against the Pats, the secondary disappeared and we couldn't stop the run. And the Chargers game was completely pathetic for the defense. Need more out of Rhodes and Harris. Defense has a lot of potential which you see in spurts during games but it's frustratingly bad, especially in zone coverage right now. The prevent today sucked but it's always good to be up 31-0. The D was really impressive in the first half though.

The D was really impressive in the first half though. The defense sucked in the second halves of the New England and Miami games because the offense couldn't put together a productive drive and give the defense a rest. It was pathetic. Our run defense is really good. The Jenkins trade was one of the biggest acquisitions in the NFL. The run defense last was a fucking joke because the defense line wasn't eating up blockers, so the linebackers couldn't make plays. Not only does Jenkins eat up blockers, I've seem him penetrate and tackle the ball carrier on several occasions. Look at the numbers... I think our only poor performance concerning the our run D was the second half of the New England game when LaMont Jordan wore down a tired Jets defense. Our secondary is pretty good... Revis is becoming a shut down corner. Lowery got torched by Boldin but for a rookie you have to be very impressed with how he's played. Where we've gotten killed is with defending the middle of the field. TEs or slot receivers like Fasano, Welker, Buster Davis, and Breaston have had big games against us. We need to take care of the nickelback position in the offseason, but we've got great man-to-man corners covering the flankers, and Rhodes (even though he hasn't made as many plays this year) is still one of the best safeties in the league. With our pass-rush I only see the secondary playing making more plays as the season wears on. Today was a strange game, and I don't think you should take too much from that second half. Nothing ever good comes from playing 10-15 yards off the receivers... the play-calling was pretty embarrassing, there was no killer instinct from Sutton.

Nothing ever good comes from playing 10-15 yards off the receivers... the play-calling was pretty embarrassing, there was no killer instinct from Sutton. The second half today was really just pathetic. I couldn't believe it. I know a lot of it was the playcalling, but the Cardinals were putting together 3, 4 minute scoring drives all half. Infuriating. Jenkins looks like he did before the injuries. Amazing DT. Such a breath of fresh air to have a run stuffer up the middle, but yeah, he breaks through really well. Lowery has made some nice plays this year and will be a good second corner. He's rangy and athletic, but he looks kinda dumb too. Revis also gets burned when he tries to read QBs in zone, as I've said, unless he's in front of the WR because he does an amazing job jumping routs. Harris has disappointed me all year, and Barton doesn't play the pass so well. I thought the Chargers performance was shit. The NE I was more or less fine with because a lot of that had to do with the offense and amazing special teams play from the Pats all game long.

Post by Phoenix Phil on Sept 28, 2008 20:15:40 GMT -5
Through the first three games the Jets surprisingly really underperformed in special teams area... shanked punts, missed short yardage field goals...it was a mess. As a result the team wasn't winning the field position battle. The turnovers helped but today the Jets started several drives near midfield and look at what the results were.
Revis is still iffy in zone coverage, it's not really his forte. I really don't think the Jets should be playing much zone though, no matter what the situation is.
The linebackers have been disappointing in coverage. Pace is a pretty sick open field tackler though, which is amazing for a guy who was a defensive end until last year.
