welcome ladies and gentleman to the hot seat. Today we are joined by BBS bad boy Chris "the bull" Martinez.
Let's talk about your team a little. You had an exciting end to the season while avoiding the contract year. Do you plan on making any moves to continue to improve?
Me: I don't plan on making any moves until after TC. I've made the mistake before of making moves before-hand and it turned around and bit me on the ass. There are other times I should have made a move before TC, and didn't. I guess it's a crapshoot really. Though with three young guys in Artest, Jackson, and Butler who have yet to have a significant TC, I think I'll hold off on dealing any of the three prior to TC.
Do you feel vindicated that your team avoided having to go into the contract year?
Me- Absolutely, people give me shit all the time about how crap my team is, but I've never been fired, I don't think I've ever been in my contract year, and if I have, I've obviously made it through no problem. So while I might not be winning championship after championship, I'm still sticking around, something 2 or 3 teams might not be able to say after this season.
Talking about the contract year. The Knicks, Hornets, and Pacers are in serious trouble. Who do you see making it or do you see all of em walking the plank. Does the fact they're all in the East make things harder?
Me- I think all three know how to make moves to significantly improve their team. All three have a decent amount of talent that they can try to package or even add pieces to if they so see fit. I think it does make things significantly harder being in the East only because you're going to have three teams just trying to make the playoffs so that means you either have to shoot for at worst a 6th seed or just hope you land 40. I think all 3 will somehow make it, but the team with most chance of not making it would have to be the Pacers.
We're in the middle of the draft at the moment. Has anything surprised you thus far? As far as picks being made or trades regarding the draft.
Me- No surprises really, I think everything has fallen into place. I think West over Diaw may have been a mistake, but West will be a really good player in my opinion so that may not be to bad. I loved the Kobe deal going to New Jersey. Baron/Kobe combination is sick. New York's dealing of landing Marbury I think should lock them for at-worst 40 wins.
Let's talk about you a little bit. You've always been looked at as an angry person. Is that a fair assesment of you?
Me- No, I take every thing people say as a joke. So everyone should take everything I say as a joke. I think some people just hyped me up so much that people just hate me, just because. I have been been absolutely quiet this whole entire new BBS, unless someone started some shit with me, though it's fair to say everything I do is multiplied x1000 just because it's me, because everyone knows damn well if that was me faking those sigs, I'd still get shit for it till this very day.
Do you think your a better gm than people make out to be?
Me- Absolutely, people say I destroy teams, this, and that, yet again I'll say, I've never been fired or even in danger of being in my contract year. As the old BBS came to a close I had almost nearly created a finals capable team. I think in this new BBS, I've just had bad luck with both TC and the draft. Artest, Butler, and Jackson have yet to have a formidable TC. Okur was a complete bust, I mean I should have gotten like top 3 picks and I drop down to 6. I've just been really unlucky.
What number would you rank yourself gm wise?. 1-29
Me- I'd put myself at 23. 23 is my number, and it's an honest ranking. I don't consider myself a bottom 5 GM, but I don't consider myself even a top 15 GM. I have yet to make the playoffs this BBS, but this season, I will turn some heads and I expect a top 15 ranking will be given to me.
If you can go 3 boxing rounds with anybody in BBS who would it be and why? and what would the outcome be.
Me - I'd choose ducky for round 1, he'd be knocked out in 35 seconds.
Then for rounds 2 and 3, I'd choose Dave. I'd make it a UFC match, no holds barred, I'd probably get him in an arm-bar and just break his arm. He might win though, he takes alot of protein shakes.
Who do you think are some of the more overrated gm's or underrated?
Me- Dave, assesses every single team out there, tries to fix every team out there but his own, sure LeBron James was huge for Dallas,
but just like Dave always uses this saying I'll use it here "sometimes it's better to be lucky than good.
James I'll still say it is overrated, has he done anything in this new BBS? Sure, a finals appearance 1st season of BBS, but can we all agree that the first season usually is a wash?
I think Mark is underrated, not alot of people talk about him when they talk about good GMs, atleast I think so but he's up there.
I think ducky is the most underrated GM here, I don't think anyone really describes about how much he sucks as descripitively as they should because he's absolute garbage.
