Maniac you did make alot of excuses for the loss. Fact is, the Giants are a better, more-well rounded team. The Steelers won't do much in the postseason if the offensive continues to perform this way. That's because when a team loses they generally have a lot of excuses.

Jay and Marty feeling down on the Steelers makes me feel better about their playoff chances. Don't lump me in with him. It's not like I'm blinded by Lions bias. I just don't like the Steelers as a playoff team.

DAN ORVLOSKY! MY FAVORITE NFL QB! Gotta love QBs who are so afraid to take risks they don't throw to their best WRs! He's okay. He's a stop gap until we bring in better players, and hopefully, a real QB.

I haven't been biased in the least bit throughout this entire thread. And I'm not really as biased as you guys claim. I'm a huge fan, but not really that biased. I can admit a weakness to my favorite teams. I can see when they lost to a good team. However, I'm not a big fan of retards like Marty spewing mindless drivel. Oh no? You named Jeff Reed as the best most clutch kicker in the NFL having "Mr. Clutch" himself Adam Vinatieri still in the NFL, which is really really dumb statement. You also named Reed as the 5th most accurate kicker in the NFL(that's why you don't believe everything Wikipedia says, dummy) when he was 8th or 9th and then called me a "moron" because you had the stats and I "didn't." How quickly that arguement ended when I gave you legit stats huh? I agree, Jeff Reed is a great Kicker but not the best as you so highly praise him to be. Though, that's besides the point. I’m a die-hard Bucs fan. Have been seen the almighty Testeverde was leading our incredible last place team with Ehrict Rhett at RB and Anthony Reidel at WR.. Yet, I have always had a realistic expectations with my team. The only time I thought they’d win the Superbowl hands down(and I have the bet-ticket to prove it won 4k) was the 2002-2003 Superbowl win over the Oakland Raiders. You though hold the Pittsburgh Steelers as high and mighty, like they are the best team in the NFL, which they are far from it. Their Defense is really good and tops in the league sure, but their offense, especially O-Line has been terrible this season and having Simmons out hurts just as bad. They’ve had a fairly easy schedule up until the Giants game(and had two great wins over the Ravens and Jags no doubt) but the up-coming schedule wiLL prove a lot of things, most importantly, if Pittsburgh is real or not. They are not Superbowl Contenders and they have a lot of flaws. Their passing game is not amazing(24th in the league in yardage) , Rushing has been mediocre mostly due to injuries(18th) and total yardage is obviously among the bottom(25th). Their D has been keeping them in many games but, as proven yesterday, unless your offense is putting up points there is only so many games you can win thanks to your D, and the Steelers don’t have a defense like the Ravens of 2000 or the 2002 Bucs who’s Ds put up just as many points as their offense(yes this is a slight exaggeration). My point is, the Steelers are a run-of-the-mill team. Playoff bound sure? Division winners? Yeah probably their Division is terrible. Superbowl bound? No way, and I’ll bet my house on it. Now take my "mind-less drivel" i.e. REAL stats and shove it up your ass.

Now take my "mind-less drivel" i.e. REAL stats and shove it up your ass. - You're really proud of that Jeff Reed thing, huh? And I made the claim that he's one of the best clutch kickers in the league right now, which he is. I said I'd take him over any kicker in the clutch right now - I would. He doesn't miss for the Steelers right now, what more could I ask? And I never said you were wrong about him being 8th or 9th rather than 5th. That doesn't really matter to me. You found one stat that I didn't really feel like bothering to look up. Get over it. - I agree that the upcoming schedule will say a lot about this team. I also agree (and have said all year) that the Steelers offensive line is mediocre right now. You'll never find a single post where I said they had a solid offensive line. I will not, however, agree that Kendall Simmons being out has hurt this team. Darnell Stapleton has done a much better job than Simmons. The line has played a lot better since he went down. However, the line has been mediocre, not awful throughout the season. The Philly game was a disaster, sure, but they've been playing fairly well outside of that game. Three of the sacks last night were because Ben holds on to the ball far to long, which I can also admit as a fault of his. He needs to learn to throw it away from time to time (it's a risk/reward thing - he makes as many big plays holding the ball to long as he does unproductive plays). Nonetheless, Ben's style of play lends itself to being sacked a bit more. - Their division is terrible and yet you say the RAVENS could make it to the SB before the Steelers would? Right. - They are a Super Bowl contender because every team in the AFC has a flaw right now. The Chargers can't win - that's a pretty big flaw. I'd rather be 5-2 in a crappy division than 3-5 in a crappy division. The Colts are injury plagued and Peyton Manning has been very much a mortal this season. The Broncos have a god awful defense. The Bills played an even weaker schedule than the Steelers and lost to the Dolphins. The Patriots have played an even weaker schedule than, well, everyone and still have Matt Cassell at QB (along with an aging defense and various other injuries). They'll be exposed when they play a real team. The Titans have been great so far, but I'm still hesitant to trust a Kerry Collins led team in December or January. The Ravens offense is bad and doesn't have much potential to improve this season. The Steelers have flaws, sure, but so does every other team in the AFC. - The Steelers are not a run-of-the-mill team. The Jets, Browns, and Jaguars are run-of-the-mill teams right now. Pittsburgh has a great defense, top three in the league I'd say, and a struggling offense right now. - However, the potential for the offense is their. This team is 5-2 and leading their division despite having been fucking murdered by injuries early in the season. Depth has allowed the Steelers to be in the still positive situation that they are. Marvel Smith, Willie Parker, and Santonio Holmes will all be back soon. The defense is back to being healthy again and will continue to keep them in every game. They'll be fine. Did I ever say they were a lock for the Super Bowl? No, that'd be silly at this point in the season - just about as silly as saying they aren't even a contender in a wide open AFC.

Well for example you said that Ben held on to the ball too long... but give credit to the Giants CB's for the jamming at the line and their pass rush for taking away some of his options. The only huge unforced mistake was the Harrison long snap, and even after that the Steelers defense had a chance to stop the Giants.

The only huge unforced mistake was the Harrison long snap, and even after that the Steelers defense had a chance to stop the Giants. I said the Giants were a solid team. Ben's first INT was just a great play by the defender. The second INT was just a really hard hit and nice play by the Giants defender. However, Ben DOES hold on to the ball to long. As a result of that he tends to force passes rather (or takes a sack) rather than throwing it away from time to time. Like I said, it's a risk/reward thing. As a Steelers fan I naturally focus more on what the Steelers did wrong than what the Giants did right. I think most fans act this way.

If the AFC had the teams it did the last 5 years there is no way the Steelers would sniff the Superbowl (along with the rest of the conference). However, the AFC is weak and the Steelers have as good of a chance of making the Superbowl as anyone.

are the Colts just looking bad or the Titans just looking really good?

A little bit of both. The Colts clearly are not the same team as they were in the past few seasons. An old Peyton Manning offense doesn't fail on two fourth and shorts. Marvin Harrison just looks old. That defense is banged up, undersized and couldn't withstand a high level of play in the second half. They'll improve some next week though with Sanders and Addai coming back. However, they just look bad right now and will have to battle for a wild card spot.
The Titans really stepped it up in the second half. They had two long, impressive drives where they just laid on a smaller defense. Kerry Collins didn't screw up, made a lot of nice plays, and the running game woke up a bit in the second half. Defense really put the clamp on Peyton & Co. in the second half.
