Around the Horn was a live recording. Each contestant had 1 min to respond to each question as he was addressed by the host. You could interject if you felt strongly on the person's statement but ran the risk of being muted if talking out of turn if the host didn't like what you had to say. After each round point totals were updated and cuts were made after every 4 questions.

Welcome to the show ladies and gentlemen we have an action packed lineup today but first lets meet our panel....
Straight from the mountains of Salt Lake City, Andy
Being in Utah sucks ass
From the hot deserts of Phoenix, Bluedevils
Brian Grant for a 1st?
Singing the blues in Memphis, Martinez
Maniac can suck my dick
And finally everyone's favorite high school prodigy, Nova
Contract year what?
Ok lets just right in....Day 75 in the season has just past and the first edition of the power rankings were released on the BBS forum. There were controversies over the rankings so I ask who is your #1 team? What do you think Andy?
Andy: I agree with the Knicks being first like it says on the power rankings. They are 15-3 since day 50, what more needs to be said? They have an awesome 4 some. Give outlawz props. He's done an awesome job.
Bluedevils: I agree with Andy. The Knicks have three superstars that can step it up at any given time. The most impressive part of their team is that their only allowing 36% FG shooting
Martinez, who is your #1 team?
Martinez: Disagree... the Pistons are ahead of the Knicks simply because I can see Detroit shutting down New York defensively.
Bluedevils: How can you say that when the only time the two teams met NY scored 103 points?... The Knicks have refined their depth chart since that point as well
Martinez: Theo Ratliff held Duncan to 11 of 27 shooting. Ratliff single-handedly can control the paint... I think Ratliff will be the reason why the Pistons will beat the Knicks in any 7 game series.
Nova, hop in who is your #1 team?
Nova: The Pistons definitely have a great defense, but when you look at New York, they have two of the premier offensive players in the league who are both extremely efficient, and then add in Marbury & Mashburn, and I feel that I feel they will overcome the Pistons
So are you saying the Knicks are your #1 team?
Nova: Yes. As I said earlier, I just feel that their offensive firepower in addition to their terrific defense with Bowen and Duncan puts them at #1
Point Totals
Andy: 2
Blue: 3
Martinez: 2
Nova: 1
Alright moving on....If you could go back in time and revisit this past season's draft you're on the clock at #2 who do you take? Blue you're on the clock....
Blue: I'd still take LeBron #1 overall. Carmelo and Bosh really haven't showed the development needed to warrant a #1 selection. LeBron right now has the ability to be a #1 option... who knows what could be in his future
Marty: He said #2 learn to read fool
Nova: ..uh. it was about #2
Blue: Fuck
MUTE Blue
Martinez who are you taking?
Marty: Bosh, no question
MUTE Marty
Great insight there Martinez. Andy who are you taking?
Andy: I'm still taking Melo. Yes, his D is suspect but the rest of his game should pretty awesome. I've seen guys go down and later have awesome careers so I'm not scared by his TC. Bosh hasn't impressed me much to be honest. 41% shooter, 26% 3pt shooter and mediocre at best rebounder.
Nova: I'd take Kirk Hinrich. There's no doubt that Carmelo Anthony is a special player who can score, handle the ball, and rebound. However, he is a very poor defender, and I feel defense wins championships, so I just can't take him...I feel as if Hinrich is going to be an elite PG, his 3.5 : 1 AST:TO ratio is outstanding for a rookie, and he will only continue to improve.
Blue redeem yourself...
Blue: Bosh did nothing in TC, shoots terrible %'s, and can't block shots... how the fuck could you take him #2... Hinrich warrants some consideration but Melo is just a hair below LeBron... very dynamic player. I choose Melo
Martinez anything to add?
Marty: Same thing was said about Artest and look at him now. You can't base one TC as to the progression of a player
Blue: The first TC can be telling of alot... many teams are looking for an instant contributer
How does no one mention David West? Come on the guy is killing it this season. Moving on.....
Blue: If your going to throw West's name out there, might as well mention Kaman ;D
MUTE Blue
Point Totals
Andy: 4
Blue: 2
Marty: 3
Nova: 4
With miami and ny running neck and neck for the #2 seed in the eastern conference who would you rather matchup with 1st round....ny or miami? Martinez who would you want to face?[/i]
Marty: Miami... New York one through six are probably the worst to match-up with.
He goes with the defending champs interesting.....nova what do you think since you won't be facing either or Round 1?
Nova: That's a tough one, both teams are very good. However, I'd rather face off against Miami. New York has Tim Duncan at Center, while Miami has Mutombo. They are equal in most categories, but Duncan is a far superior offensive player.
In addition, Andre Miller is very turnover prone, and I'd much rather face him then the much more efficient Stephon Marbury. I also feel that the Heat can be more easily exposed defensively, wheras the Knicks will be tougher to score on.
Blue you've had marbury before so who would you rather face ny or miami?
Blue: Miami will struggle if Allen and Carter have a cold shooting day... LaFrentz scoring skills have regressed so he's not a viable post scorer anymore. I'd rather play the Heat
Andy: Miami. The Knicks, in my opinion, are a much stronger team then Miami. To many options to try and stop. Not to mention, most of the Heat's offense is outside. A team with good outside defenders can give the Heat huge problems. With the Knicks, they have a great inside scorer and a great outside scorer. Oh and I would've won if Shaq hadn't gotten hurt. Just adding that in there.
Blue: Agreed. Bowen is a player than can neutralize Vince Carter
So I toss it out to whoever duncan has no problem against mutombo or raef?
Nova: He may struggle here or there, but if he does, remember, the Knicks still have Pierce & Marbury to pick up the load, and even Mashburn off the bench.
Blue: He might struggle fg% wise but Duncan does a pretty good job getting to the line
Andy: He'll be fine. He has struggled but with a new DC and with the way it's working, I doubt there will be much of a problem for NY there.
Between Raef and Mutombo they combine for 6 blocks a game good for 5th and 6th on the league leaders board that could prove to be a slight neutralizer if you ask me. In a 7 game series I'll take the defending champs.
Andy: Shouldn't have been
Point Totals
Andy: 6
Blue: 5
Martinez: 5
Nova: 7
Ok, last question before first cut. If you can have 1 player to take on your team to win now who do you take? Blue we'll start with you remember this is the first pick not the 2nd this time
Blue: Kevin Garnett, and it's not even close. He's out of position in Washington putting up 30 and 10, willing an otherwise completely shitty team
Whatpositionshould he be playing?
Blue: He can play anywhere on the court to help his team win... he also has all-defensive team like abilities. I believe his skills are maximized at SF, similar to Webber
Andy are you riding the Diesel on this one?
Andy: Nope. My vote goes to Zo. Top scorer. Top rebounder. Top 10 shot blocker. 3rd in FG%. Solid passer for a big man. I don't know any other player in the league that can match all that. He's leading the Hornets to a 28-15 record. The Hornets aren't exactly a loaded team now. A big part of the Hornets success is obviously Zo.
Martinez, who are you taking?
Marty: Zo.... he's been an absolute beast all season long. Big reason why the Hornets are on fire.
....
....
...
Right on Martinez, Nova who do you have?
Nova: Common sense would dictate that one would take Alonzo Mourning with the way he's playing, but it's clear his body is wearing down. Mourning played in only 126 games in the 01-02 & 02-03 seasons and has already missed 9 games this season. I don't trust him to stay healthy. Shaq wouldn't be the worst choice, but he also tends to get injured at bad times. Therefore, much like Blue, I'd also take KG. He hasn't missed a game in the first 3 + seasons of BBS, and he's one of the best all-around players that has ever played the game of basketball.
Andy: Nova, we're talking about one game here, not a season. Zo all the way for this year.
MUTE Andy
Nova: He scores 30 a game, grabs 11 rebounds, dishes out almost 4 assists, and averages over a steal and a block per game. it said to win now. You need 16 wins in the postseason to win the title.
Martinez give me something for Zo. Defend your boy!
Marty: Zo is leading the Hornets to a better record than the Wizards. It's not about stats, it's about wins and on a team with not much talent Zo is getting them wins. You need to actually win 16 games to win the title... not just perform well in them.
Blue: Have you seen Washington's roster? without such a dynamic player they'd have 10 wins.
So what if Zo for KG swap teams anything change?
Nova: the Wiz still suck and the Hornets are still a very good team
Blue: He's a winner... he just hasn't been supported with the right players needed to win the ship in years past. and this year they are nowhere near championship form
Nova: KG has Payton and that's all
Marty: And New Orleans has a great supporting cast?
Nova: Mourning has Marion, Redd, Boykins
MUTE Nova
I've heard enough of you let Martinez and Blue close this out. 15 seconds......
Marty: Payton is argueably a top 5 PG in the league
Blue: Washington won 60 without much more than what Alonzo has down in NO
Ok time is up no more responses...Payton might have been a top 5 PG in the league 2-3 seasons ago but not now. Lets tally up the scores and time for first cut.
Blue: Hahaha yea
Marty: Name 4 ahead of him
