Billy Hoyle
PG
6'2"
175
20
Florida
Overview- Bill was a highly touted prospect coming into the University of Florida after an impressive 4 year stint at Oak Hill Academy. In his freshmen year at Florida he was a top 5 assist man in the SEC and led the Gators to an appearance in the Elite 8. However, during his sophomore year at the University it was discovered that he was wagering money in pick up basketball games, which violated NCAA and school policy. A swift, decisive, and rather sever punishment was handed down to him: Expulsion. After leaving the school he played abroad for one year and is deciding on whether he wants to enter the BBS Draft or not.
Strengths- Absolutely incredible passer. Like his former alum Jason Williams, Hoyle has an incredible eye for finding open teammates and threading the needle in traffic. Has many of the tools you look for in a true PG, speed, court vision, and is certainly not afraid to go for the big play. Oddly, the farther away from the basket he is, the more confident he becomes in his shot unless he is driving to the lane, something he finds to be a challenge.
Weaknesses- Hoyle needs to work on his short range game. His mid range jumper is shaky at times. Because of his frame it may be hard to put on the weight to gain the strength he needs to compete at the next level. Billy gets easily frustrated, mainly due to the amount of turnovers he has because his teammates can not handle his speedy passes. His tendency to play pick up games may distract him from the work he needs to put in to improve.
Notes: Expect his TO's to decrease and AST increase due to better talent in the BBS who can handle his passes and are aware they are coming. His Defense is certainly nothing to write home about, but he can hold his own against other PG's because of his athletic ability. Not really a strength or a liability overall. Because he only got one year to play in college, his potential is a bit of a mystery, but due to his development at Oak Hill and his play at Florida for one season, we believe him capable of performing at the next level.
More Notes: Has a really hot girlfriend.
Potential Ratings: C B- B+ C+ C- A
