Live and learn, it all comes with experience I'd say. I've only been a GM for 5 seasons here and maybe about 6 or 7 in UOSL, I'm sure I'll get the hang of it.

When I rebuilt I targeted Monta and Beasley to get with the picks I acquired. Landing Ross was part of the plan as well... the only thing that didn't work out is DJ trading me my pick which we worked out about 10 times and he continually backed out
keeping Aminu has worked out nicely though

It also helped that when everyone went over the HC, the Bucks were lucky to have the worst record the year before and was able to sweep up all those players (horford, west) and use them for beasley.
