But If I already fixed it for this problem it should be good, no? I don't really know It probably will die soon and I will be pissed. Oh well, fucking bill gates. It can easily happen again. The root of the problem is that the 360 overheats. 360's can die like 9 times. Yeah, I try to rip my games to my hard drive though. Not sure if that helps with overheating, but it makes me feel better.

So is the Jawless Clown still alive? You should back your GT up on a memory card.

I sent out my 360 elite on 1/22/09 it was fixed on 1/28/09 and it's shipping back to me 1/29/09 pretty damn good transit time.
Yeah Basone, you're fucked. Microsoft won't fix it for free now since your friend tampered with the wiring. You're basically screwed if it RRoD again. You're going to have to pay $99 + shipping costs to fix it now.
If it wasn't RRoD'ing (i.e. 3 red flashing lights) the trick is to cover the Xbox with towels and let it run for as long as possible. This basically causes it to RRoD.

I hope they're fucking quick.

I've never heard of this before. What is the RROD? What happens? I've got a 360 but nothing has ever happened to it. I don't use it that much I guess.

yeah I don't know how true it is or not but apparently it's better to lay it down flat in an open space than it is to have it standing vertically... some people say it makes no difference, some people say it does... but I don't know...

It can happen at any time no matter how much you really use it. The early 360's were all made pretty flawed (some studies found that something like 60% of all early 360's were defective). Essentially, they overheat really easily and fry the hard drive. It happened so frequently that Microsoft extended the warranty on the 360 to three years. So, they'll repair it for free if you're within that warranty period. You know the little ring on the front of the 360? If it ever flashes three red rings then your 360 is fucked. Thus, Red Rings of Death. Bastards.

FWIW, my 360 "hisses" sometimes when it's standing upright. I think it's safer to have it flat.

I keep mine flat. From what I've heard standing it vertically can fuck up the disc drive as well as the internal shit.

But damn, that blows. It's pretty ridiculous that something can cost so much and be so defective. I got mine pretty early on when it was like 400-500 dollars (junior year of HS) so I'm probably past the warranty by this point. Better not happen to me, I'm just getting good at NHL.

RRoD usually have a "life-time" warranty any other error does not.

RRoD usually have a "life-time" warranty any other error does not. Yeah, if you call them and report a RROD they'll fix it even if it's past the warranty. Sometimes they're a pain in the ass to deal with (mostly because you can't fucking understand any of them), but it'll get fixed in the end.

in any case.. I'd recommend searching for a certified "private" technician(I found one on Ebay that's legit) if this problem happens again.. yeah you have to pay but it's worth it from what I've read.

vertically sucks... even if it wobbles a little bit, there's a good chance your game gets scratched.

Mark, you need to get Xbox Live so I can play you online. It's definitely worth the cheap price (or start gathering free trials - I have like 300 of them that I've never used.).
