Strengths
Ben Gates averaged 7.4ppg 10.7apg 6.8rpg 2.5spg during his junior year at Maryland. Coming out of high school Gates
was the top rated running back in the country. He played both sports in college until he dropped football after his
sophomore year. During college Gates ran the 40 in 4.45 and benched press 225lbs 26 times. Gates is one of the few players who can dominated a game without putting the ball in the hoop. He has a passion for defense and loves locking his man down. During a early season match up Vs. Temple and star guard Shawn Burnett, he held Burnett to 6 points on 3 for 18 shooting.

Weaknesses
Gates is horrible offensively and gets most of his points off free throws. He's not a threat to knock down shots from downtown. Gates lacks a go to move to beat his man off the dribble. He could average 10ppg one day if he keeps working on his midrange game.

Overall
Gates is one of the purest point guards to enter BBS. He will be a starter from day 1 and should make his presence felt immediately.
