Asamoah is of Ghanaian descent... his parents moved to the states a year before he was born. Highly recruited coming out of high school, got offers from programs such as Georgetown, Louisville, and UConn but chose to attend GW due to one of his former AAU coaches being hired there.
Strengths: His length makes him an incredibly versatile defender. Can use his long arms to create steals without forfeiting his position in front of his defender. Incredible anticipation, plays the passing lanes incredibly well. Led the A-10 in steals in his only season at GW. Good help defender. Great pure athlete, has a 37' vertical.
Weaknesses: His offensive game is all athleticism. When dunking's not an option he struggles to finish at the rim. No touch around the rim. A liability in halfcourt sets. Shot mechanics are an issue... 62% FT% shooter.
Scouts wonder if he's the next Ibaka or another Ater Majok. Boom or bust guy, probably not worth taking in the lottery.
