A look at the 2021 BBS Draft class.
The 2021 Draft is all about the first selection. Although there are many talented players in this draft the prize is sure fire lock #1 selection Terrell Morrison. Morrison is a superb athlete who can play a variety of positions. He can be your point guard, or your #1 option or both. Expect Morrison to be on the franchise player on whatever team he lands. After 1 you have a chance at lots of solid players, but all of them seem to be more role player types then stars. Heres a position by position look at the rest of the draft…
Centers…
DeAndre Chamberlain C 6'10'' 240 20 C D+ C A- B+ A…Chamberlain is a big time prospect that is a lock for a top 5 pick. A superb defender and rebounder, Chamberlain should be a starter at center from Day 1. Although not the shot blocker most want at 5, Chamberlain has enough upside, and the ability to get 10+ boards a game.
Tyler Brady C 7'4'' 350 21 C D B+ B+ B A… Brady is an intriguing player with amazing passing skills for a player his size. Game comes extremely easy for him, which could be a minus in the pros. Brady also could start as a rookie.
Terric Harrison C 6'11'' 255 20 B C C- B B- B… A solid young player with more explosion then one would think with his frame. Reminds some of a young Chris Wilcox, although slightly bigger. A solid rotation player at worst.
Bradley Kinkirk C 7'3'' 290 24 B- F+ F+ A B- C.. Kinkirk is a great defender with amazing strength. A good shot blocker, Kinkirk is pretty stiff athletically which could really hamper his ability to get better. Solid 3rd big man at worst.
Ha Lau Wa C 7'11'' 355 20 C+ C+ F B- C+ A… He sure is tall. He is tall and strong like few others in the league. He is also slow. While he does have nice upside he is just such a question mark. Amazing shot blocker.
Power Forwards…
Aaron Baer PF 6'10'' 260 21 C D F A- A- B… Baer is the best of a very weak Power Forward class. Baer is a tenacious rebounder and defender with very good size. A decent shot blocker, Baer is a extremely tough man to man defender as well. Physically dominated in college, so his adjustment to the pros may be tough.
Aaron Charles PF 6'11'' 303 22 B C C C+ C+ B… Charles is pretty much the exact opposite of Baer. Charles is primarily an offensive player who uses his strength to overpower his defender. Charles lacks the quickness and tenacity to be a good defender. A late 1st Round selection.
Marques Smith PF 7'0'' 247 21 C C C C+ C+ A… Smith is raw. Not a polished post player, Smith is extremely athletic with a solid jump shot. Every other part of his game is mediocre but he shows enough flashes to merit 1st Round consideration.
Small Forwards…
Robert Band SF 6'7'' 224 22 B B B- C+ D A… Band is a big time offensive player that reminds some of Jeremiah Gress. A great scorer from inside and outside, Band can also handle the rock and set up his teammates. Band is also a wonderful free throw shooter.
Brandon Washington SF 6'7'' 240 24 C+ A- C A- C C… Washington was a big time talent who seems to be past his prime. The years of inactivity have made him extremely rusty. While he still has some amazing abilities, he seems more interested in his pay check then getting better.
Cory Miller SF 6'7'' 225 20 B C C B- C A… Miller is a tough well rounded player who does a little of everything. A solid inside score and defender, Miller works hard and is always trying to improve. He reminds a coupe of scouts of Matt Harpring.
Chandler Carter SF 6'8'' 222 22 B- C C- C+ C+ A… Carter is similar to Miller in his ability to get better, and his desire to score inside. Carter is older then Miller and most think Carter is close to his peak.
Mauricio Carrillo SF 6'7'' 210 21 B- D+ D+ C+ B A … A very raw offensive player that gets buy with guts and effort. A nasty rebounder, Carrillo will be hard pressed to ever be more then a quality backup.
Tuco Salamanca Jr. SF 6'5'' 250 21 B+ C- D+ C B A… A very tough inside player who doesn’t play defense. Salamanca has also really drawn lots of criticism for his poor people skills and odd behavior at pre draft work outs.
Sigmund Weissmuller SF 6'6'' 220 19 B- B C C+ C+ B… Very different then his brother Jens, Weissmuller is a balanced scorer that has a better chance to start in the BBS. Sigmund is a good athlete that should evolve into a solid defender and rebounder.
Ed Smith SF 6'10'' 222 19 C+ C C C+ C+ A… Few players intrigue scouts like Ed Smith. He can run and jump like a wing player, but at 6-10 likes to fashion his game after Kevin Garnett. Smith is a very poor free throw shooter, but is actually decent from 3 point range. He may take a lot of work, but he could be a nice end of lotto pickup.
Stephen Ellison SF 6'7'' 213 22 B- B+ C C+ C- B… Ellison is a very good offensive player that doesn’t have the athleticism to be a good defender. Adam Morrison comes to mind when you see the shaggy haired Ellison play.
Shooting Guards…
Skyler Hampton SG 6'4'' 182 20 C+ B+ C+ A- C+ B… Hampton is an absolutely lock down perimeter defender. He takes great pride in his defense and he usually comes away winning individual match ups. Hampton is also an amazing FT shooter. He should be 90& and up for his career.
Kareem Melton SG 6'5'' 200 20 C B+ C C D+ A… Melton fashions his game after Ray Allen. His offensive game, mainly his jump shot, comes 1st, 2nd and 3rd. Melton shoots over 1000 jumpers a day and it shows. Should go lotto.
LaSav Cunningham SG 6'7'' 190 20 C+ A C C+ C- B… Cunningham is a taller, more polished version of Melton. Savvy should make an instant impact and could be selected ahead of Melton because he is BBS ready.
Alejandro Mouton SG 6'5'' 220 21 C B+ C A- C B… Mouton has a great mid range game and is a solid defender. Mouton has a strong body and plays very physically for a Shooting Guard. A very good mid Round 1 selection.
Travanis Landry SG 6'5'' 220 20 B C- C B- C+ A… Landry is a strong physical player that reminds some of Tony Allen. Landry can get the hole, finish and draw contact. Plays more like a forward then a guard.
Point Guards…
Sebastian Garcia Ramirez PG 6'2'' 175 22 C+ A- A- C C- B… Ramirez is a prototype Point Guard that will be a start from Day 1. SGR has big time passing skills and can shoot like few others. Not much of a man to man defender, SGR can play the passing lanes and grab steals.
Sylvester Rollins PG 6'0'' 180 24 B- B+ C+ B- C+ B… Rollins isn’t a pure Point Guard, more of a combo guard, but he has the desire to get better. A balanced scorer, Rollins can shoot and get to the basket. A smart decision maker, Rollins takes care of the ball well.
Peyton Prewitt PG 6'3'' 191 20 C C B+ C C A… Prewitt is a solid ball handler and passer that lacks the ability to play defense. Prewitt is a very good mid range shooter, but he doesn’t get to the basket or have 3 point range.
Jackie Skoals PG 5'10'' 175 20 C C+ B- C+ D+ A… Skoals is a talented player that thinks he’s better then he is. With his personal problems in full bloom, most scouts have decided that he won’t even be on their draft boards. A solid player, the hype his entourage has made about him is severely overplayed.
