Weissmuller is one of the more interesting players in Europe. When he was younger he was a sprinter but found that he enjoyed running around with a purpose rather then just running. Jens is in top shape and should enjoy success in BBS. However GM's are raving about his very unique skill set.
Suns scout Rock Blue told BBS Insiders that Jens is probably "the best player without a ball in his hands that he has seen in 20 years." "He can play defense with the best of them, his handle and passing skills are equate and he is very tough and scrappy on the boards." Jens thrives on being a very scrappy player, his lack of athleticism is made up by his tough exterior and interior. "Jens plays the passing lanes very well, is always up in the defenders face on the perimiter and is probably one of the best SF offfensive rebounders in the league. He has everything except.........
.....a concept of the offensive game. He can't shoot for the life of him and although he drives very well he is an atrocious finisher. Scouts are optimistic that he will get better due to his very hard work ethic and his will to succeed but his lack of athleticism may hinder him. "He has the ability to become an above average shooter" Johnny Wilkins of the Heat said yesterday "I don't think he will ever be very strong in the paint however and teams might contemplate moving him to a guard position." Free throw shooting is pretty awful as well.
Pigs Notes: With such a unique skill set it would be hard to think that Weissmuller will be falling out of the lotto. Weissmuller won't ever make the All-Star team but his skill set and potential has GM's drooling. If Weissmuller can ever develop into a 10 PPG player as a starter I think every GM would have him as a starter however he probably would be better suited as a super sub at the 1-2-3 and even the 4 5. GM's are comparing him to a better version of Boris Diaw of the now defunct NBA.
