Strengths-Blake is a freak athlete. Great, great defender, very strong, quick, and generally physically overbearing. Works so hard. Fights for every rebound, never gives up on a play. Nasty at the rim. Very solid passer and ballhandler. At UCLA, the Bruins often ran the offense through him as a point-forward. Can guard the 1, 2, 3, 4. Huge wingspan+vert.
Weaknesses-Blake has never been able to get range on his jumpshot, or really shoot in general. He uses the glass from within 15 feet usually and doesn't have range beyond that. He shoots 75% from the line, but doesn't knock down many shots in the game, and took just four 3s in his career at UCLA. Just can't shoot, really, and that hinders his potential to be a star in BBS.
Overall-He's a do-it-all but not an option scorer. He'll win a dunk contest because of his hops, and he'll do very well driving and posting up small forwards, but his best work is done off the ball. Great rebounder for his position, very quick, good passer. And an absolute defensive stopper.
BBS Comparison--He has Karron Johnson's versatility, minus the jumpshot, and Action Jackson's defensive potential. Some see Felipe Jatoba's combination of defense and rebounding, but Blake will outrebound Jatoba, and be a better ballhandler.
Draft Projection--7-15. Not a potential superstar, but a great starter. If you can afford to take the most ready player and the best contributor without banking on drafting a superstar, he's your guy.
