Jax “Jack” Dalhausser
19
PF
6’9
190
College: Santa Barbara
Projected Ratings:
B- C- C- B+ C+ A
Background: Jax is the son of world renowned AVP star and Olympic medalist, Phil “The Thin Beast” Daulhausser. Like his father, Jax has a high volleyball IQ and is already one of the best in the country as an underclassman. In his freshman year, he was the National Freshman Player of the Year for their volleyball team as he led the team with 195 kills and 222 blocks. Many believe he’ll be better than his father when it’s all said and done. Although his game was made for volleyball, he tried his luck with the struggling Gauchos basketball team.
This season, Jax has started at power forward and led the team in blocks (2.9), rebounds (12.2) and dunks (41) through halfway through the season. Although, he’s only averaging 9 points a game but still would have managed to make the All-West Freshman team last season and has a strong chance at defensive player of the year in the conference as well.
Several West Coast scouts are impressed with Jax’s genetics and makeup even though basketball is not his first sport. His raw ability intrigues almost all of them across the board and many believe he can play in BBS for a very long time if he reaches his ultimate potential.
Strengths: A frightening presence in the middle. Has very long arms and gets his hands on anything in his vicinity. His length wil really make some problems for opposing offenses. Will be a top 20 shot blocker within three seasons. Gets a ton of dunks because he can jump out the building. Some scouts believe that he can leap better than half the big men in the league as a rookie already because of his ability to get off the floor in volleyball. Always fights for loose balls and rebounds. Improving his passing and handling. Runs the floor well and has a high endurance level.
Weaknesses: Very frail. Seriously needs to put on pounds on his frame to be effective but his structure is there. Has no low post moves whatsoever. Outside of his jumping ability that helps him down low, he can’t score very well inside at this point. Not a very good outside shooter right now as he can only hit shots within 10 feet or less. Will be a poor free throw shooter as a rookie.
Best case scenario: Serge Ibaka with more rebounding
Worst case scenario: A weaker Cesar Holmes
Summary: Mid-1st rounder. Daulhausser’s stock continues to rise on many’s scouts’ radars because he continues to help his Gauchos team win.
