Duquesne
BBS Ratings: B B C- C+ C C
Strengths
An absolute nightmare to defend, Patrick can score in every way possible. Patrick makes up for his lack of true strength with a barrage of savvy post moves similar to that of a Kevin McHale or Tim Duncan. Since his wrist injury, Patrick reported can score with either hand. If he can't get good positioning in the post, he's more than comfortable stepping out and hitting the 18-footer. If you give him room, he will knock it down. If you play up on him, he will take you to the basket. He's also money on the pick and roll. Just a sick offensive skill set.
Weaknesses
On the court, Patrick struggles to focus on anything that doesn't involve offense. Puts up really poor block and steal numbers, mainly because he lacks timing. His lack of timing, and a complete lack of effort, can also explain his completely sub-par rebounding. He rebounds like a small forward because he's usually the first person down the court after the possession changes.
And then there is the injury problems....
Outlook
Patrick hasn't played in a basketball game in a year and a half. During his junior year, Patrick tore his ACL after landing awkwardly during a game. He was making amazing progress until he was hit by a drunk driver in the summer before his senior year. The accident broke one of his legs (the opposite leg of his ACL injury) as well as his shooting hand.
Doctors have cleared him to play and scouts said he looks back to his normal self in private workouts. They still question how healthy he truly is, and how healthy he'll be able to stay in the pros. His injury issues may push him out of the 1st round, but he could have quite a career if he can stay on the court.
