At the start of the season, the Bulls had a goal. They not only wanted to avoid the dreaded contract year but wanted to challenge for the top seed in the East. The first major off season move for the Bulls was to trade for Beaubois, a very underrated PG who is easily one of the better rebounding PG's in the league. Next and the biggest move was trading the 4th pick along with Marshall and William's expiring for Lance Stephenson, a top 5 SG. The last big move was trading expiring contracts for Aminu. The Bulls started the season with a line up of:
Alastair De Groot C 24 7'1'' 233 B+ C- C+ A- C+ B
Diego Alvarez PF 22 6'10'' 228 B A- B C B- B
Al Farouq-Aminu SF 30 6'9'' 217 B A- C B C+ C
Lance Stephenson SG 30 6'5'' 209 A- A- B A C D
Rodrigue Beaubois PG 33 6'2'' 172 C B+ B+ A- C- D
In what the Bulls hoped would be a very good season started off as a pretty mediocre one. Bulls went 33-30 and things were looking bleak as far as going far in the playoffs. The Cavs were slowly closing in on them and nothing was really working for the team. Then, the Bulls began making deals:

The Bulls, while trading the best player in the deal, picked up two very solid starters in Dunagan and Strickland along with 2 picks. Dunagan was a 21/13 player just last year and is currently in the top 10 at FG %. Strickland has averaged 20 ppg in the past, shoots a very good FG% and is on one of the better contracts in the league.

In this deal, the Bulls traded a young, shot blocker for 3 player that will fit huge roles for the Bulls. Mashburn, another player on a nice contract, can be a solid 6th man for the Bulls. Kinkirk, who has been starting for the Bulls, will be a great back up big for the Bulls. The main piece for the Bulls is Abernathy. Mr Cars dot com now gets to prove his worth in a playoff series for the Bulls.

In the last of the big deals, the Bulls traded there former franchise player for one of the more underrated players in the league. Cousins has been a very consistent player throughout his career and now the Bulls have one of the better C/PF combos in the league.
The current line up:
DeMarcus Cousins C 30 6'9'' 264 A- C- C- A- B+ C
Dennis Dunagan PF 31 6'9'' 229 A- C- D A A- B
Al Farouq-Aminu SF 30 6'9'' 217 B A- C B C+ C
Dexter Strickland SG 30 6'3'' 192 B+ B+ C A- C C
David Abernathy PG 23 6'2'' 175 C+ A- A- B- D+ B
The Bulls have also added some bench presence, something they really didn't have beforehand, with Kinkirk, Mashburn, Mayo, Payne and Carter. Since the Bulls traded Lance and Groot, they have gone 7-3 and are hoping for better results now with Cousins. The Bulls won't go into the playoffs with home court advantage and may, at best, be a 6th seed but the Bulls feel like they can put up a challenge against whoever they play in the 1st round.
