2023 BBS Draft Notes…
Centers…
Gabe Aimetti C 7'2'' 275 22 B C- B- C A- A… Aimetti is a combo of Vlade Divac on the offensive end and Moses Malone as a rebounder. An amazing post scorer and passer, he is extremely difficult to defend. Aimetti is a beast on the boards, especially offensively. Aimetti is not a good man to man defender because he likes to try and block shots. His lack of overall defense hurts his stock, but he’s still probably the best prospect in the draft.
J.A. Garang C 7'3'' 217 21 B- D- D+ A+ C- B… Garang is an unbelievable defender. He can block shots, steal and defend in the post. An automatic starter as a rookie just based on his defense. Potential Defensive Player of the year one day. Offensively Garang is a mess. Horrible shooter. Bad handles. Also just a horrible rebounder. Could go as early as 5 because of his defense, or could slip out of the lotto.
Marcus Hayes C 7'2'' 285 19 A- F B+ C C B… Hayes has a great post game and loves to make the flashy pass. While he has some interesting qualities, he seems more like a side show type player then someone you build around. He can’t defend or board. While he passes extremely well, he also turns the ball over a ton. He’s also a horrible free throw shooter. Probably shouldn’t be selected in the lotto.
Desean Foster C 7'4'' 296 23 B C C- B B B… Foster has amazing size at 7-4 and almost 300 pounds. Despite his size Foster isn’t especially strong and cant jump over a dime. However Foster is a very good post scorer, and a solid post defender. Should go late lotto.
Curtis Templeton C 6'11'' 315 19 C D+ D B- B A… Templeton will earn his pay check on the boards. He is a very aggressive rebounder on both ends of the court. Templeton is a solid defender, but he isn’t special. And on the offensive side of the ball Templeton is a black hole. Mid to late Round 1 selection.
Eric Anderson C 6'11'' 285 20 C+ C- C B- C+ A… Intriguing prospect because of his size and youth. Anderson has a solid mid range game and good hands. Makes good decisions but lacks athleticsm.
Jake Allen C 6'10'' 244 22 B- D C- C+ B- B… Allen is a big body who can score inside and board. Not athletic, but he is very strong. Solid 4th big man type.
Power Forwards…
J.J. White PF 6'9'' 230 20 A- C C- B C- A… Very good scorer. Can score inside and out to 15 feet. Some scouts feel as though his potential is tapped and he is what he is. Others feel as through he will step it up on the next level. Definite lotto pick.
Amon Cummings PF 7'0'' 225 20 B C C B- B- A… Cummings is a power forward in the mold of recent BBS draftee Terric Harrison. Good size. Very skilled. Solid all around game with the ability to be an “ideal” 4.
LeBron Grant PF 6'10'' 232 21 C+ C+ C- B- B+ B… Very smart player that is productive on limited ability. Very fundamentally sound. Very good rebounder, ball handler and free throw shooter. Should be a solid pro.
Larry Framingham PF 6'10'' 240 21 C C- C- B B A… A big time defender and rebounder that lots of teams are drooling over. Reminds many of Rob York, but Framingham has the ability to block some shots too. Has an outside shot at the lotto.
Ramon Henderson PF 6'10'' 220 23 C+ C C C C+ A… Henderson is a late bloomer who didn’t start playing basketball until his sophomore year of college. He is a little old, but he has intriguing skills. He can do a little bit of everything, and he has good size speed ratio. Should be a solid late Round 1 selection.
Ade Cissokho PF 6'11'' 215 21 B- C- C C+ C+ A… Active on the defensive end, although he doesn’t have good man to man skills yet. Decent but not great rebounder. Solid jumpshot. Needs to gain weight, not very strong.
Small Forwards…
LaRue Strickland SF 6'9'' 210 18 B- C C+ C C+ A… Strickland is a big time talent that could sneak into the top 3 or maybe even go one if he has a good individual workout. Strickland is extremely raw, but has big time upside. An amazing athlete, Strickland probably made the jump to the pros to early. Fundamentally he is extremely raw, and his scoring comes mostly from his athleticism, but he has a ton of ability and could be special one day.
Jeramy Ransaw SF 6'7'' 230 22 B- B- C- B+ C- A… Ransaw is a nasty defender that just lives for physical contact and intimidating his opponent. Fashions his game after Ron Artest. Ranshaw isn’t special athletically, but he works extremely hard and he plays the game smart. A lotto pick for sure.
Keith Washington SF 6'6'' 242 20 C B- B+ B+ B+ B… Washington is a walking contradiction. An imposing physique with a skilled game. Washington doesn’t like to bang inside, he likes to do his damage from the perimeter. A very creative passer and tenacious rebounder, Washington would rather start the offense that post up down low and score. Could go anywhere from 5-15.
Kristoffer Jeppesen SF 6'6'' 230 19 B B D+ C B A... Solid player that reminds many scouts of Kristjan Hjartarsson. Solid offensive player from inside and outside. Not a great defender, but a very good rebounder.
Josia Manzi SF 6'11'' 210 19 C A- C C+ C+ B… Manzi is a very good shooter and ball handler, but lacks athleticism. Solid late Round 1 selection that should be a productive bench player.
Edward Lansing SF 6'8'' 230 19 B- B- C B C- A… Solid young player that tends to make poor decisions on offense. His defense can be nasty at times, but he seems like a hit or miss type. Just kind of an odd ball that scouts cant get a read on. Make or break type player.
Tevin Nailon SF 6'7'' 245 22 B C C B- C+ B… Nailon is a very good inside scorer being a power forward in college. Just doesn’t have the size to play there in the pros. A solid rebounder and defender, his game should translate to that of a solid backup forward.
Jerrell Stapleton SF 6'8'' 240 21 C+ C+ C B+ B- B… Stapleton is very strong, and has a solid mid range game. Not gifted athletically, Stapleton is productive because he’s a hard worker. Kind of a tweener. Might have a tough adjustment to BBS.
Shooting Guards…
Beep Lane SG 5'9'' 200 20 A C C C+ C- A… Lane is an unbelievable finisher, especially for his size. To be under 5-10 and be an absolute beat in the paint is unheard of. Lane has unreal quickness and leaping ability and he just doesn’t miss near the hoop. Lane is also an amazing ball hawk on the defensive end. As for the negatives, lane cant shoot the 3 ball and is slightly turnover prone. He should go top 3, but his lack of an “ideal” game may scare some away.
Patrick Dixon SG 6'5'' 225 20 B- B- C B- C A… Dixon is a very good shooting guard prospect that can do a little bit of everything. A very good scorer, ball handler and defender, Dixon should go lotto.
Lavasier Thomas SG 6'4'' 190 22 B+ C B- B- D+ B… Thomas is a very good finisher and jumper but probably needs to be moved to point to have a big time future in BBS.
Kenyon Guyton SG 6'7'' 210 21 C B+ C B- C- A… Guyton reminds scouts of recent BBS draftee Kareem Melton. A very good shooter, Guyton lacks upper tier athleticism and is a bit stiff so scouts think his upside is limited.
Cameron Dodge SG 6'2'' 190 21 C B C B C A… Dodge is undersized but his defensive prowess, especially as a ball stealer is turning heads from scouts all across the league. Dodge is also a very good shooter and has said he’s willing to try and learn point guard in the pros.
Mickey O'Mahoney SG 6'5'' 210 22 B- B C+ A- C B… O’Mahoney is already a very good 2 way player who loves defense as much as offense. O’Mahoney could come in right and start, but probably wont get drafted much higher then at the end of the lotto because scouts think he has limited upside.
Point Guards…
Sergei Van Hardevaald PG 6'7'' 220 18 C A- A- C- C+ A… SVH is a great shooter, ball handler and passer. Just a great point prospect with amazing size. Very special with the ball in his hands, and is also a great rebounder for a 1. But he has his faults. Horrible defender. No ability to score inside. Could go top 3, could go late lotto.
Will Henderson PG 6'0'' 185 20 B- C B- B C A… Will Henderson follows a long line of great Texas point guards. Henderson is super quick, and loves to get to the hole. Very good leaping ability allows him to finish once he gets inside. Solid ball handler and passer. Also a very good ball stealer. Should be a top 3 pick.
Chris Price PG 6'3'' 182 22 C B- A- B- D+ B… Price is a very good small school point guard. He has a good mid range game, can pass and is a ball hawk on the defensive end. The rest of his game is mediocre, and his upside is questionable. Probably a good late Round 1 selection.
Tyson Alexander PG 6'5'' 207 20 C+ C B- B+ C C… Alexander is a very good defender, but has some ball handling issues. Strictly a backup type.
Trevor Bell PG 6'2'' 196 22 C C B B C C… Solid ball handler and defender should go late Round 1 early Round 2.
