I've never even come close to the contract year. It's not really that hard. Every time I rebuild it has been an all-out effort. I tank hard when I decide to rebuild - my teams look like complete shit when I start a rebuild.
You just have to accrue picks and draft wisely. A lot of people in a rebuilding phase decide to hold on to their youth rather than strike while they are still valuable.

I dont think the WL can be weak without the bottom end of the league being weak. That was my argument.

One problem is people don't sign quality FA's that can help them win games. I'm talking about good role players here. When FA rolls around, GMs who are rebuilding always target superstar FAs but when they don't get them, they just keep their cap and hope to sign a superstar during the next off season. If they spent some of that cash on quality role players and good depth and combined that with their draft selections, they could quickly build a good team that can compete. In order to become elite, you have to make some slick trades but mostly, you need good fortune with your player development. It you draft/trade for players and they develop into studs then your team will be elite. If your draft selections/players acquired in trades bust or dont develop, it sets you back big time.

People do waste cap. You need to be ubber proactive when you rebuild. You need to make tons of small deals that get you picks, and make you lose. then when you have cap, if you lose out on the big names you need to sign chips you can trade for more picks. Instead most people just sit on it.

So if we had like 3 CWizz's on the WL, the bottom end of the league would be weak like WL? I'm not sure what you're saying.
I have no problem with CY, by the way, just trying to figure out this little piece of the debate. Are you saying the bottom end of the league would have to be weak for you not to replace them with the weak GMs on the WL?

With the CY Gms change more often then they do in other leagues. People get fired, so those "weaker" WL Gms are more likely to get jobs. And honestly I dont think the WL is stronger or weaker then its been over the last year. its been about the same. So, IMO the last 3 or so Gm spots and the WL are about the same quality wise.
