1. Utah Jazz - Jerry West SG 6'0'' 198 28 A- A B B C+ B
The Jazz need a franchise player desperately and West is just that guy. West is someone that could score 30 points per game as a first option shooting guard or could put up 25 and 10 as a starting point guard. Wherever he plays he will be a top 10 or 15 player.
2. Chicago Bulls - Walt Frazier PG 6'4'' 200 22 B- B- B- B+ C+ A
No better place to start your rebuild then with a dynamic point guard with the ability to score and distribute. Frazier will be an upper echelon All League type point guard in no time.
3. Las Vegas Rebels - Earl Monroe SG 6'3'' 185 22 B+ C+ C B- C- A
Rebels really need a big time shooting guard that can carry the scoring load and Monroe fits the bill perfectly. Although small in stature Monroe's game is big. Expect a player that can score 25 points a night and be an All Star for years to come.
4. Minnesota Timberwolves - Mel Daniels C 6'9'' 220 23 B- C+ C- B- B A
Me Daniels is one of the few bigs in this draft that offers not only great scoring ability, but good size as well. Daniels is 6-9 220 and can score from anywhere on the floor. Daniels is also a solid rebounder and should form a great forward combo with Joe Ellis.
5. Atlanta Hawks - Phil Jackson PF 6'8'' 220 22 B C C+ B B- A
Phil Jackson isn't a perfect fit for the Hawks but they do need bigs and Jackson is the best available. At 6-8 220 he is slightly undersized for the PF spot but he is a good defender and rebounder and he plays the game correctly. Good addition for the Hawks.
6. Golden State Warriors - Pat Riley SF 6'4'' 205 22 B C+ B A- C B
The Warriors already have a good assortment of smaller players but they cant pass on Riley here. Riley is a solid player that is extremely versatile. He can play 1, 2 or 3 and play all the positions well. Drafting Riley may allow the Warriors to deal one of their smaller players for a big man upgrade.
7. Minnesota Timberwolves (from LA Lakers) - Clem Haskins SG 6'3'' 195 23 B- C+ C- B+ C- A
Haskins is a superb defender that should only get better. He has a chance to be an A defender at the shooting guard spot, and that's rare. While his offensive game is behind his defense, he should be a guy that can score 15-18 a night.
8. Dallas Mavericks - Jimmy Walker SG 6'3'' 195 23 B B C C D A
Walker will fit in very nicely in Dallas between super small forward Rick Barry and up and coming point guard Bob Weiss. Walker isn't much for defense but he loves to score and should push the Mavs towards a fast outside type offense.
9. Detroit Pistons - Wayne Chapman SF 6'6'' 190 22 B+ C C+ B C+ B
The Pistons will just be looking for the best available player at every pick. here they have to take Chapman. A very good inside scorer and solid defender, Chapman is versatile enough to play 3 positions.
10. Dallas Mavericks (from Miami Heat) - Trooper Washington PF 6'7'' 215 22 B C- C B B+ B
Washington is undersized, but he has the strength and tenacity to make up for it. A very good rebounder, Washington fights for every loose ball. Washington is also a solid inside scorer.
11. Minnesota Timberwolves (from New Jersey Nets) - Louie Dampier PG 6'0'' 170 22 C+ B C C+ D- A
Adding Dampier gives the Wolves a player for the future at every spot outside of center. While Dampier isn't your prototypical ball handler he is a solid scorer and he has solid upside.
12. New Orleans Hornets - George Carter SF 6'4'' 210 23 B+ C+ C C C+ B
Carter is a very good scorer who doesn't like to defend. At this point you cant pass on someone with Carters ability to score though. He is someone that could be a 20 PPG guy in BBS.
13. Cleveland Cavaliers - Sam Smith PF 6'7'' 230 23 C+ C+ C- A- B B
Cavs need to continue to add role players around Oscar Robertson and Shelley Cruise. Smith is a perfect fit. He is a great defender and solid rebounder and he isn't horrible on offense. he should be a great bench guy for them.
