Great value trade if it is true.

I've got 4 sources confirming it, 3 say its a 6th or a 7th and the 4th source say it's a 6th for sure. Wow, what a great low risk/high reward situation for us. Worst case is he doesn't get it together and we lose a 6th round pick!

I know it's a done deal now because it's on ESPN, so great news for us. I'm already so excited about next season!

Mike Hart was by far the most overrated college player last year. He may play with a lot of passion but he won't be a good player in the NFL.
Williamson is trash. He was drafted for his speed and has never developed anywhere else. He couldn't even start on a pathetic WR core. I can see why the Jags did this trade because he was a 1st rounder a few years ago, but historically WR take a big step between their 2nd and 3rd season and that is the type of player to expect for the rest of their career. Williamson has never even been a below average player. Saves some cap for the Vikings and gets them a late round pick they can try to package to move up a few spots in the 3rd or 4th round. Could pay off for the Jags but I don't see how.

When you have near $40 mil in cap space, why not? He's cheap anyways in terms of contract and what we gave up for him. Our core of coaches came in last year and did a really damn good job with our wide receivers. He's as fast as anyone on the field and speed is so big at WR.

jags need a downfield threat at WR... Williamson fills that but he isn't going to draw any extra coverage that way. A change of scenery may make an impact on him but he could easily be a guy who is cut in the next 2 seasons. You aren't going to be able to draft a guy with that type of speed in round 6 so Jacksonville fills a need at a cheap price but the quality of the player that they filled it with is very low.

We have a lot of decent receivers but we lack the #1. We have:
Matt Jones - Red Zone Specialist, Big, Fast, Bad Route Runner, Scared of Contact Dennis Northcutt - Had a solid season but doesn't have #1 guy speed or talent. Ernest Wilford - He was our clutch receiver but we will probably let him walk in FA Reggie Williams - Our TD Machine, was great in the second half of the year and is a great, young #2 receiver. John Broussard - Our late draft pick last year who's similar to Williamson, a speed guy who was a steal where we got him, great pick. Mike Walker - Same as Broussard, but we put him on IR last year because he had knee problems. He had an amazing training camp (I watched it live in Jacksonville) and the city is raving about him, he COULD potentially emerge as our #1 and was considered a huge steal for us, everyone's excited about him.
So we have a lot of depth and youth but no number 1 receiver, and there's not much out there in FA to get one. I think Berrian is way way overrated as I'm from the Chicago area and if he gets the $20 million guaranteed like I've heard, that is insane.

i would think wilford is gone because of this trade... you dont keep more than 6 WR on active 54 man roster

We almost did last year, and I agree with you but there's nothing wrong with a roster battle at training camp. Problem is if we resigned Wilford it would have to be for a decent amount of money, making it pointless to cut him.

Corey Williams for a second round pick is a great deal for the Packers. He wasn't the starter till Jolly got hurt. He is a great player when his snaps are limited. However, his great production was a from Green Bay's great DL depth (allowing him to always play fresh and rarely get double teamed), and their scheme to apply more pressure with DT since Kampman and Jenkins are both great against the run on the ends.

I think it sucks to see Vilma go, I liked him a lot, too bad. It looks like we will be getting a pick in 2009 based of what he does in 08, hopefully we can get a solid pick.
Jenkins hopefully fills the void at NT, he looks like he will get the job done. I do not know though, two picks is a lot.
As for Robertson, another top pick is about to be shipped out, damn.

Losing Vilma really isn't that big of a deal. David Harris is going to be really good.
I like the Jenkins move a lot. I also like the idea of Faneca, even if he isn't as good as he used to be. Draft McFadden if you shore up the OLine with Faneca.

Niners need to get Briggs. Briggs and Willis would be sick.

They say Jenkins gets tired easily and did not work hard in Carolina, I hope he works out. Yeah that guy Faneca might be signed soon, that would be solid.

3rd and a 5th is a lot for Jenkins imo but I like it. He was one of the best if not the best DT in the NFL before his 2 knee injuries. I think he will continue to get better for the next few seasons and maybe transition to a Ted Washington type of guy in the later part of his career.

If we could get a 3rd or 4th round pick for Robertson, I'd be estatic... he hasn't proved much in his career here. Supposedly Denver and Detroit are teams that are interested. I think we could've gotten better value for Vilma, but we'll see how that pick turns out. We might need to draft another ILB to pair with Harris but it's not a top priority. I love the idea of signing Faneca... the Steelers o-line suffered alot of injuries, which directly affected his play. Regardless he still was an All-Pro. As for drafting McFadden, I'm against it unless we pick up a pass-rushing OLB in FA. This RB class is pretty deep... I'd rather take Kevin Smith or Ray Rice in the 2nd/3rd than McFadden with the 6th overall pick. Not to mention that McFadden looks like Shawn Kemp part deux... the guy supposedly has 4 children with 4 different women. Nice.

I would be happy to see another RB drafted early to compete with Jones, even Leon. It should be interesting to see where they go with that pick. Hopefully we can get robertson for a 3rd this year basically giving up a 5th to get jenkins.

I love the RB's in this class but I'm not sure if there's room for a 3rd running back to get a solid amount of carries on the team. TJ and Leon behind an improved o-line should be pretty nice. I'd like to see us go after a WR if Coles is on his way out.
