"There was blood everywhere." That from Raptors PF Billy Cunningham, who saw Pistons forward Pat Riley land face first on the hardwood after an aggressive dunk attempt over him. "The game was getting a little chippy, but since it was getting out of reach, I think he wanted to take some frustration out." Cunningham reported. "I'll tell you what though, for a Rookie, that kid has alot of heart."
Riley layed motionless on the ground for fourty five minutes before paramedics could successfully get him on a stretcher. He was immediately air-flown to Air Canada Hospital. Doctor Edmand Melville diagnosed Riley with a Broken Skull and Neck, but was confident Riley would pull through.
The Pistons have had high hopes on Riley, drafting the 22 year old from Kentucky with their 8th overall selection. Riley has played three positions for the Pistons this year, even taking over some of the teams PG responsibilities when Hal Blevins went down with a Broken Arm earlier in the year.
Detroit is 9-30, which is currently tied for third worse in the league. They do, however, have a core group of young and talented players, and with TEN first round draft picks in the next two years, the Pistons should be on the rise in the East once again.
We wish the best for Riley and hopes he pulls through with a speedy and successfull recovery.
