Anyone ever done these? We've got an LA Boxing a few blocks away here and once my toe heals I want to try this out. For those of you who have, did you like it? I just want to do like bag drills and jump roping, etc. Not actually train to fight, just use boxing as my cardio.

Its an awesome workout. Jump rope, speed bag and sparing are fun and effective ways of getting in great shape. I wish I was still doing it. Fucked up my shoulder with a left hook.

Damn, that blows. Yeah I'm probably going to do it. How many times a week did you go?

Damn, that blows. Yeah I'm probably going to do it. How many times a week did you go? I was dedicated, everyday for 3 months. If I were to do it again, I probably would of taken more time to rest, and stretch properly.

Oh yeah, I'm definitely not doing it like that. It's to supplement lifting. I need to minimize how much it interferes with my lifting in terms of rest. Probably will switch my lifting to Tuesday-Thursday-Saturday, and box on Monday/Wednesday, something like that.

I was still doing my normal lifting plus the boxing on top of that. On top of that, not stretching. No wonder why my shoulder is all fucked up. I can't lift as much as I used to, so I'm stuck to low weight-high reps, I'm still pretty big but it sucks when everyone is benching more then you.

I could never handle that much. I'm going to have to wait for November to start this anyway so that my toe can heal + baseball can end, otherwise I'll get way too rundown. What's your shoulder injury?

One of my trainers was on The Contender. He made it to the finals too. Great trainer.

That's sick. Yeah I don't think what I'll be doing is anything of that caliber, but I don't really want it to be anyway. I want it as a workout, not to truly learn how to box and win a fight. Should be good.

It's one of the best cardio workouts imo. Only ever done bag work myself a few years back because the gym I used to go to had one there lol. It tires you out real fast for the first few times you try it lol and you'll be surprised how tiring it is I think. I didn't do any of the footwork stuff or skipping etc, I just used the bag as an extra way to de-stress and to also add it into my workout as cardio.

One cardio workout I really want to try is one that I read Andy Murray actually started doing recently. Rather than the usual boring bog-standard run, he started doing timed sprints. Basically you end up targetting a number of 100m sprints, say 20 of them, and you have to do them in 20 minutes. You sprint the 100m, and have the remainder of the minute to rest, then you sprint again, remainder of the minute to rest, and repeat until the 20mins is up.
So basically the quicker you run the 100m in, the more rest time you get, which stops you slacking off, and also makes you work harder. It's better than just jogging the 2km as well because of the start stop aspect - uses more energy.
The thing stopping me is the lack of a track lol. I could probably do it down the road I live on as it's straight, and off the main road, but the only problem with that is I don't want to end up looking like a maniac running up and down the street in front of the neighbours haha.

Speed bag is fun as shit, if you learn how to do it. It takes awhile to learn but its big stress reliever and the chicks dig it.

Speed bag is hard to get right LOL. and once you get the rhythm right, you have to concentrate otherwise it's easy to fuck up lol. Fun trying it though haha.

If you can do 20 100's as hard as you can, good luck to you. Doing ten is tough.
