1. Utah Jazz - Bob Lanier C 6'11'' 250 22 B+ C C B+ B A
Lanier is the best player in the draft and the Jazz need a franchise player like him. He should be a 20-10 guy that is a top option as a rookie. Legit stud center that is quite rare in BBS.
2. Boston Celtics - Nate Archibald PG 6'1'' 160 21 B+ B+ B C+ C- A
Adding Tiny Archibald to Wilt Chamberlain makes the Celtics a legit playoff team right now. Both are superb players that should be tops at their positions one day.
3. Miami Heat - Pete Maravich SG 6'5'' 197 23 B A- C+ C C A
Maravich can score, but his handling issues make him a questionable pick this high. Luckily the Heat have a couple other high picks that should pan out so risking Maravich here makes sense.
4. Golden State Warriors - Dan Issel C 6'9'' 235 21 B+ C+ D+ C+ C+ A
Warriors need a star player to build around, and while Issel will probably always be a mediocre defender, his offense makes him a very good #1 option.
5. Toronto Raptors - Dave Cowens C 6'9'' 230 21 B- C C B A- A
Raps love to get young big men. Cowens will fit right in. Not a big time offensive force, Cowens will earn his paycheck on the defensive end.
6. Detroit Pistons - Rudy Tomjanovich PF 6'8'' 218 21 B C C- A- C+ A
Pistons add yet another workman like player in Rudy T. Tomjanovich is a good defender and rebounder that should be a starter in detroit as a rookie.
7. Toronto Raptors (from San Antonio Spurs) - Calvin Murphy PG 5'9'' 165 22 C+ C+ B B D- A
Murphy is one of the better PGs in the draft. Not flashy, Murphy gets by with solid passing skills and good defense.
8. Memphis Grizzlies - Randy Smith SG 6'3'' 180 22 A- C C B- C A
The Grizz are pretty set at SG, but they cant pass on a player like Randy Smith. Smith is a very good inside scorer that should develop into a 15-20 PPG type player.
9. Miami Heat (from New York Knicks) - Gar Heard PF 6'6'' 220 22 C+ C- C- A B B
The Heat get a sure thing here in Heard. He is a great defender and rebounder that should be their SF for the next decade.
10. Miami Heat(from Los Angeles Clippers) - Charlie Scott SF 6'5'' 175 21 B C+ C C+ C A
Heat need a boom type player and Scott may be it. Although very raw, Scott has some intriguing qualities.
11. Phoenix Suns - John Johnson SF 6'7'' 200 22 B C C+ A- C+ B
Very good defense player that can board and pass a little.
12. Detroit Pistons (from Milwaukee Bucks) - George T. Johnson C 6'11'' 205 21 B- C C- B+ C+ B
Pistons go again for defense here with the shot blocker Thompson.
13. New York Knicks (from Chicago Bulls) - Sam Robinson SF 6'7'' 190 22 B- C C C+ C+ A
Another boom or bust player. Could be a big time wing, or a has been.
