Power Rankings: Top 10
1. Minnesota Timberwolves- The Timberwolves have the best record in the league as we move past the trade deadline and that is all due to this amazing trio lead by Jerry West. West has been playing amazing basketball this season posting a 30 ppg 7 rpg, 5 apg and 2 spg. He is shooting an amazing .470 fg percentage from the field, a .920 percentage from the line and a .438 percentage from down town. This savvy veteran has it all and its only his 4th year in the league. With super star and 3-time play off MVP Devereux St. Cloud running the point and scoring assassin Bak at the 3 this team has all the right tools to make a deep run come the playoffs. They will score a lot of points; can anyone match up with them?
2. Washington Wizards- The Wizards are the best out of the East and may be one of the few teams that can match the Twolves high scoring output. The Wizards post a league leading 120 ppg mark as a team. They play great defense as well, which makes them a very elite group. Led by Rick Barry and Jim Barnett, the Wizards are a fierce bunch. Coming off of a dominate championship run over the Twolves they will look to depend the title. They have all the right tools to do so, I expect to see the Wizards in the finals when it is all said and done.
3. Portland Trail Blazers- The Blazers are a well-rounded team led by one of the best players in the game DellJuan Pearson. He is the league leader in scoring and right now having a career year. Along with Dmitri Maximov, Leon Camby and DeAndre Chamberlain the Blazers have all the right pieces to make a deep run come the playoffs. They are an outside focused team that leads the league in field goal percentage and is in second in three-point percentage. They also lead the league in blocks per game and hold the best home record in the league, which will be big in the playoffs.
4. Las Vegas Rebels- The Rebels were involved in a few trades this season which allowed them to shake up their roster for the better. In doing so they have a strong cast of younger players that will be around LV for a while. Deon Price leads this cast and is a star. Along with Webb, Kemp and Sawyer the rebels are another well-rounded team that has many options come the playoffs that will hurt you. They’re another team just like the ones above that limit therre TO’s, shoot high percentages and play solid defense.
5. Orlando Magic- The man, the myth, the legend, Oscar Robertson, what is there to say about this beast? He leads these clowns down in Orlando. Right now their GM AJH is going through some problems finding the right dc that works for them, but we all know in time he will find it. The Magic have one of the best blocking front courts in the league led by Yates and Foster, you cant ask for anything better than that. Problems arise at the point guard spot where Bing has given Habes some problems. Will depth also be an issue for this team come the playoffs, well see.
6. Seattle Supersonics- To be honest, I did not think that this group of guys would have all that much success this season but they have proved me wrong. They’re a talented bunch led by 13-year vet Marcus Bigelow. Bigelow is craving for that shot at a title and this may be one of his last shots to win one. The Sonics in the past have pulled off some great upsets in the playoffs; will they be able to do it again?
7. New Orleans Hornets- Rollins and Reed run shit. Dru runs shit. This team eats shit for breakfast. Fuck you if you get in there way, they will eat you.
8. Boston Celtics- The Celtics are a good young squad that has yet to put it all together yet. They will be a dominant team though for many years. With two future super stars running the frontcourt and young Pistol Pete at the 1 and 2, the Celtics future is bright. This may not be their year but they will have plenty of years ahead to dominate the league.
9. Dallas Mavericks- Recently the Mavs were on a hot streak that sent them soaring in the standings. They have since cooled off but that should raise some questions for some teams at the top of the west. They will have to be careful when playing this tough Maverick team; they may surprise someone in a seven game series.
10. Cleveland Cavaliers- The Cavs had an amazing season last year and this year is no different. They still are a solid group that has all the tools to compete with the top teams. There biggest need would have to be shot blocking, I think if they got a good shot blocker in there it could change some things. With Walt Frazier at the helm though, things are looking great in Cleveland.
11. Los Angeles Lakers- This Laker franchise has one of the best histories in the league, but lately they seem to stink it up. Especially their GM, where the hell is he? Is he alive? Is he washing his slimy ass all day? Who knows, all I know is this team needs a GM! No depth, Bob Loves is out partying all night with Lindsey Lohan, Joffer is doing drugs, and Jeffey Mullins is in brazzers.com porn videos. All I know is someone needs to take charge or this ship will sink.
