The Contract Year
If you go 3 years without winning 40, or making the playoffs you will enter your Contract Year. If you fail to make the playoffs or win 40 in the fourth season, you will be fired.
If you are immediately rehired after losing your job to the Contract Year you get a 3 year window instead of a four year window.

So, since 2013 will technically be my 1st year taking over the team, I can go...]
2013 Sub .500 2014 Sub .500 2015 Sub .500 2016 Playoff appearance
and be good? I misunderstood this rule in the past then if this is true.

Weren't you the GM for pretty much all of last season? No Spence said that since I didn't have an opportunity to make moves during the off-season, this year is technically my first year.

If that's true then yeah, this is your first year, and this would apply: 2013 Sub .500 2014 Sub .500 2015 Sub .500 2016 Playoff appearance I don't really think that's how Spence will rule though, because Skillz/Don didn't have that I don't think.

According to the Minnesota Timberwolves page, that year did not count on my GM-record.
