Why is your style of GMing the best in/for BBS?
I don’t think it’s the best, but it’s what keeps me interested. I don’t post much compared to some others (or at least I never used to) and trading is really my form of activity. My style has been criticized a lot but it’s effective because we’re never without pieces and it’s pretty easy to dig out of a hole with a couple of good moves. You’d think that I’d be inconsistent in terms of winning/losing but we’ve had sustained success. 9 straight playoff appearances, 2 titles, etc.
What GMs are better than you?
I don’t know. I think it really depends who’s interested during a certain time, and I think luck has a lot to do with things. Outlawz, when active, is probably better. I guess the same goes with Nanz but he doesn’t care anymore. I’d put Aar and Mark up there, I think Aar is consistently one of the best. JAH is also probably the most underrated. I never used to like JAH’s gm’ing style but after talking to him I think he cares and is better than what a lot of people give him credit for. He’s very good at drafting and has made some smart financial moves.
Which GMs do you feel you have the easiest time ripping off?
Haha, I like this one. Well, there are sort of two tiers of gm’s to me. Tier one is the good gm’s who I have to present a legitimate argument for why they should do something. It’s funny because I’ve actually ripped of Mark and Outlawz more than anyone else, but they’ve gotten me bad a bunch of times too. Tier two is the new guys or idiots, who either think stubbornly or just have no idea what they are doing. If I can sound coherent and make good points I could generally rip some of the new guys. I used to find it easy to rip Greg off but he never accepts even my good offers anymore. I find CC the hardest to rip off ironically because he doesn’t even like the good offers; he looks at things funny.
Who is the most overrated GM in BBS?
I’d probably say Play. He’s very good but I don’t think he’s won a title (if he has, my bad). Seems like he always establishes sick teams but never does anything with them. He also only seems to build his teams by rebuilding first.
What would you change about BBS?
I’d change draft notes to the way they used to be. I don’t like the new notes. All it is the players ratings and Spencer telling us exactly what his rating says. “Good defender-“, yes, I know, that’s why he’s rated A-! I miss the old draft notes.
Who is the worst GM in BBS not named Martinez?
It’s hard to say because there are a bunch of new guys. Out of the veterans I’d have to say Galo I guess? I think if he had pieces he’d be able to show us more though.
Is Nova a top 15 GM?
No. Not really close to me here. Hasn’t won at all, has never had sustained success, always in CY’s, and is usually afraid to make the big move. When his teams are good, they are only borderline 50 win teams.
What is your favorite commercial?
I think my avatar speaks for itself. Those Dos Equis commercials!
How fast is your serve?
YEE. I’ve been clocked just over 115, I think 116-117. My first serve is on average just above 100. Second serve around 65-70 I’d guess. Serving’s the best part of my game though.
If you were really drunk, would you rather hook up with Spence or betray him and hook up with Andrea?
Andrea. Sorry Spence, she bought you a flat screen, must be a good girl!
