Could go either way, but I'll say playoffs because my goal is to fill out roster with good vets.

Question...my performance is bold last year, but it's sub-40...so is that a year away from or towards contract year status?

It is playoffs or 40 wins. You made it with sub-40, but you still made it.

Where do you see that?

This is a new feature of the BBS and the Direction Board. If you have 3 years of sub 40 win seasons you will enter your contract year. In you contract year you must win 40 games, or make the playoffs. If you do not succeed you will be replaced. I hope that most people can succeed in this, and would return to BBS when an opening comes up.

So it does not matter that he made the playoffs, since he had less than 40 wins.

No... he made the playoffs... so he's in the clear.. it's the same way it's always been...

Will next year be my contract year if I don't win 40 games this year, or does my playoff appearance count to help me avoid the CY?

The way the rule is written, you'd need to win 40. because DJ highlighted it, maybe he was under the impression playoffs would keep you out of your contract year, which makes sense. Id PM DJ since Ive left most of this up to him.

My thinking is, if a playoff appearance bails you out in your contract year, it should bail you out leading up to it. But I'll obviously accept whatever the rule is.

I think its a valid point, but that isn't how the rule is written. Its up to DJ, but as the rule is written now, you'd be subject to the contract year if you don't win 40.

..."If you have 3 years of sub 40 win seasons you will enter your contract year"...
I was thinking playoffs was good enough, but since the rule is written this way... it's pretty straight forward.

Yeah, but rules can be changed if it seems fit to do so. I would say that making the playoffs should carry the same weight as winning forty games in a season.
But hey, what do I know?

Ill change the rule.

Well it doesnt say consecutive years if you want to be technical. So that means 3 years of losing for anyone makes them go into their contract year. Adjustments can always be made.
