BBS’s Most Underrated Players
Lately, GM’s in BBS have been complaining about not getting proper value for a lot of their players. This may be a newfound emphasis on youth, but it could also be attributed to GM’s naturally underrating players.
Let’s find out. Here, we countdown BBS’s five most underrated players.
Top 5 most Underrated Players:
5. Dave Bing PG 29 6'3'' 186 C+ A A+ A- C C
Career averages of 14 ppg 8 apg 5 rpg 3 topg
It’s completely mind boggling to me that Andy gave away Bing like it was no big deal and Mark gave him up for some shitty 1st round pick. Bing has never been valued in the league thanks to his TO issues, and while this obviously warrants criticism, his flaws can easily be made up for. Plug the guy in at SG in an outside offense and he would do 19/5/5 on 2 to’s. I’d even consider using him at point guard if the rest of my team wasn’t TO prone; he really is a supreme passer and shooter. Bing is definitely a guy who has been underutilized and valued throughout his tenure in BBS.
4. Kenyon Guyton SG 31 6'7'' 213 B- A C+ A- C- C
Career averages of 15 ppg 4 rpg, 47% shooting
Guyton is a player who has gone pretty much unnoticed throughout his BBS career. Though playing for the Hawks and Clippers will do that to you, he has put up an incredible six-year stretch that probably no one knew about: 23/5/3, 19/5,3, 20/5/3, 26/6/3, 23/5/3. Pretty sick stats for a guy that was generally considered a solid backup sg/sf for most of his career. Even considering these numbers, the most Guyton would have gone for is probably a couple of 1sts, which is why he is # 4 on the BBS’ underrated list.
3. Phil Jackson PF 28 6'8'' 223 A- C A- A- A- C
Career averages of 16 ppg 10.5 rpg 3.6 apg 1.1 spg 1.6 bpg
How could a player like Jackson be underrated given his abilities? I’m really not sure, but it’s telling considering that Maniac as not gotten one worthwhile offer. Considering his age, ratings, versatility and production, there is no reason why Phil shouldn’t get an all-world type offer. While Phil has underachieved for most of his young career, he finally broke out last year, posting 24 ppg 11 rpg and an astounding 5.4 apg. I could be wrong here, but 5.4 apg has to be the most ever averaged by a PF. Jackson would be a huge addition to any title contender willing to make the move.
2. 208 Terrell Morrison SF 33 6'5'' 220 B+ A A- A C+ D
Career averages of 27 ppg 8 rpg 5 apg 2 spg 2 bpg
Morrison has gone from the most overrated player in the league to arguably the most underrated player in the league in a span of a few months. I know he’s not your typical “winner,” but the guy can do so much. It’s ridiculous that his value has dipped so low that he has essentially become an expiring+1st guy the last couple of years in his career. The funny thing is that his main shortcoming—his turnovers—have gotten significantly better late in his career, dipping to below 3 topg twice in the last three seasons. He may not be an ideal star player, but he is well suited to be a teams 2nd or 3rd option. I mean, he has scored a BBS record 74 points in a game and almost single-handedly got us to the Western Conference Finals last year.
1. 645 Percy Jackson SF 29 6'10'' 250 A- A- C- A- B- C
Career averages of 23 ppg 7 rpg 3 apg
I personally know that Percy is underrated because I was one of the people who hates on him early in his career. Let’s just say I was wrong. Emerging as the star of the consistent Cavaliers, Jackson has made a legitimate case for himself as being a top 5 player in BBS. Seasons of 29/9/3, 30/7/4, and 31/8/3.5 have helped him shed the bust label that he was given early in his career, and he is picking up right where he left off this year, pouring in 34 points per game to go along with 8 rebounds a contest. Why is he underrated? Well, he’s been on the same team forever, and even though the Cavs have been great, they have been going under the radar much like Percy. Also, his ratings do not indicate him as an “all-world” type player, which I think he is by now.
