Welcome Ladies and Gentlemen to the Hot Seat. Today we are joined by the Gm of the New York Knicks, Outlawz..
Good to have you on the other side of the table Outlawz
Good to be on the other side for once.
Lets talk about your team. You started the season with a trio of Marbs, Duncan, and Pierce which translated into keeping Pierce but adding Ratliff, Shaq, and Billups. Do you feel your better? What prompted those moves?
Well, I felt like I had the best team in the league in 04 but ended up losing to the Hornets in the first round. Lost in 6 which was very shocking to me. Team never had real chemistry or the elements of a winner that I looked for. Felt like changes were needed to be made
Shaq regardless of age is THE best player in the league BY FAR. Ratliff is a shutdown defender down low and with Pierce being the great all around player that he is I felt that my team was vastly better but also much older. A lot of guys get caught up with age rather than talent. Glad we made it to the finals but it also showed our lack of depth which I plan on addressing this offseason.
How hard was it to lose without Pierce in the finals?
It’s pretty tough to set your team up to be in a situation where you can win it all only to have it stripped away. Things happen and hopefully I can make it back and redeem myself with a healthy lineup
The Clippers, Cavs, and Bulls are all entering their contract year. Do you see any of them getting fired and if so how many and which ones?
This is a tough question. The East is highly competitive. Heat, Knicks, Magic, Hawks, Pistons, and Pacers I see as the playoff locks leaving 2 spots open. Bucks are better and I think they’ll surely take one of the remaining 2 spots. Celtics, Sixers, Raps, Wiz, all have star players and can sneak up. I see the Cavs possibly avoiding getting the ax but I think the Bulls definitely will land in the lotto one more time and be the first casualty along with the Clips. I just don’t see either team doing enough to win. I like play so hate going against him and honestly I don’t even think galo belongs in the league
The way this current bbs is set up do see you anyone ever having a dynasty?
It’s possible but it’s all about cap management and staying flexible. With the hard cap being lower it’s definitely tougher. Only team I see being able to achieve that is the Mavs. They have 3 great young guys in chandler, lebron, and amare. If they can keep that core and if those guys live up to their expectations they have the best chance at it.
Is there anything you would change about BBS?
Only thing i think I would really change is being able to upgrade guys over 25. Theoretically guys don’t get much better but older guys do improve certain aspects in their game. You should be able to upgrade a guy over 25 at the cost of 2 rc’s and be able to upgrade the same area more than once. I think that would be cool
Name your top 5 gm’s
I think the quality of gm’s in this league is the best I’ve been in. There’s no one really that people can look at as the guy that can get raped. Guys that stand out to me is Krup, Reilly is a top GM as far as building a winner but im not seeing that killer instinct he had in the past versions of BBS, Mark has shown that he knows what he’s doing and has a ring to show for it, ebener although I find him annoying for some reason is a really good gm, and lastly I think Nova doesn’t get enough credit for always building good teams but I do think he makes dumb moves here and there. I think he plays it too safe though and that will prevent him from possibly winning a ring.
Are you still going to play habes 1 on 1 for money?
Man, I completely forgot about that. But habes if your reading this. BRING IT. Let’s do this. Im pretty sure I could beat habes… easy money
Who are some of the guys you find most annoying?
The guys who I find annoying are usually the guys that make it fun for me. Habes and Krup talk shit like no other. It’s fucking annoying but it’s also funny and guys like them make this league what it is. It’s never been a personal thing when I get into it with guys. It’s just fun. But I will take Krups money when I see him again in the finals and Habes money when I see him in the real courts.
You are now off the hot seat.
Thx for having me.
