We are seeing who is the best player at each age here. Some of them are debatable.
18 – Andrew Bynum (Milwaukee Bucks)-- Bynum is only in his rookie year, however he showed great promise in training camps. He is proving to be a solid rebounder and shot blocker off the bench in his rookie campaign.
19 – Al Jefferson (Toronto Raptors)-- This is a very close one, however based on the stats the Jefferson is putting up this season he has to get the nod. Dwight Howard gets a close 2nd though and may one day pass Jefferson.
20 – Lebron James (Dallas Mavericks) -- No brainer here. Lebron is clearly in a class of his own for his age. He already has a title and there is a good chance he will capture many more.
21 – Carmelo Anthony ( San Antonio Spurs)-- Melo simply exploded onto the scene this off-season. He is now a legit 30 ppg scorer and could see some MVP consideration coming his way if the Spurs find a way to start winning some games.
22 – Amare Stoudemire (Dallas Mavericks)-- If anyone thought Lebron is working alone in Dallas they have something else coming to them. Amare is an absolute stud. He worked hard in the off-season and it has shown. He and Lebron compliment each other perfectly.
23 – Tony Parker (Toronto Raptors)--The prize of the FA class ended up back in Toronto. Tony may very well be the best PG in the league. He handles the ball great, plays amazing defense and can put up tons of points on any given night. Gilbert Arenas is a close 2nd for 23 year olds.
24 – Yao Ming (Indiana Pacers)-- When a dominant big man is brought up Shaq normally comes to mind. When a young dominant big man is brought up you tend to think of the colossal Chinaman. And that man is Yao Ming. He simply dominates on both ends of the court.
25 – Ron Artest ( Detroit Pistons)-- Artest in Detroit, who would have thought that would have worked. Artest may be the best defender in the league. He can get his fair share of points too. Many would have never believed that Artest would fill the team player role, he defiantly has though.
26 – Tracy McGrady (Denver Nuggets)-- Now TMac may not be the best defender, but boy does he make up for it on the other end of the court. The leader of the Nuggets can go off for 50 on any given night. Can he lead them past Dallas in the playoffs though?
27 – Kobe Bryant (Milwaukee Bucks)-- Kobe packed his bags yet again last season and set up shop in Milwaukee. He instantly made them a title contender. Kobe can score with the best of them and is always looking to improve his skills when it comes to getting teammates involved. Shawn Marion deserves to be mentioned here as well. He is an amazing SF who can both play like a SG and play like a PF.
28 – Paul Pierce (New York Knicks)-- In possibly the closest matchup of all Paul Pierce takes home the best 28 year old slot. The guy is amazing. He plays like a forward with the handling skills of a PG. If he would have stayed healthy last season you would probably be talking about the finals MVP here. Stephon Marbury has really come into his own in Orlando as well. Both Pierce and Marbury deserve serious consideration for the MVP this year.
29 - Kevin Garnett (Atlanta Hawks)-- Speaking of MVP consideration we have come to Kevin Garnett. Garnett very well might be the best player in the league and he has just set up shop in Atlanta. Many think Atlanta has the best frontcourt in the league and this man is the reason why. Will he finally be able to take his team to the finals though?
30 – Allen Iverson (Orlando Magic)-- Allen Iverson leads an amazing offense in Orlando. He and Marbury are probably the best backcourt in the league. The two have a legit shot of going for 80 points and 20 assists anytime they hit the court.
31 – Ben Wallace (Dallas Mavericks)-- You know. I really wanted to put Steve Nash here. However Ben Wallace is the three time DPOY. How can you ignore that? He is simply a monster on the boards and in the paint on D. And with the talent he has in Dallas around him.... He really has no need to score.
32 – Jason Kidd (Minnesota Timberwolves)-- Once again we could have gone a different way here. However Kidd is simply the best pure PG in the league and he has been for a few years. He plays amazing defense and always gets his teammates involved.
33 – Shaquille O’Neal (New York Knicks)-- Was there any doubt here? Shaq is getting up there in age. He may have also lost a small step over the years. He is still the best damn center in the league though. Bar none and he is hungry for another ring this year.
34 – Eddie Jones (Minnesota Timberwolves)-- Eddie has long been known as one of the best defenders in the league. He is getting up there in age, but he is still a solid contributor for the Wolves. He’ll get you 10 ppg and that hard nosed defense we have all come to love over the years.
35 – Sam Cassell (Indiana Pacers)-- Sam’s legs may be 35 years old, his mouth is still flying like he when he was 25 though. Sam is still running the show in Indiana and is doing a fine job at it. He has started off this season at a smoking 55% shooting and getting over 8 apg.
36 – Larry Johnson (Portland Trailblazers)-- Anyone who thinks LJ still doesn’t have it is dead wrong. LJ has been an amazing bench player over the last few seasons. He could easily be a nice starter too. He can rebound with the best and still has a very good offensive game.
37 – Gary Payton (Washington Wizards)-- Gary Payton isn’t an elite PG anymore. He is still a great ball handler and defender for his age. He is trying to be a calming force on a young Wizards team.
39 – Tim Hardaway (Detroit Pistons)-- Timmy still has some skills. He is not tearing up the league anymore, however you can’t really expect that from the oldest player in the league.
