Thanks for being here Mr Fickaroo. Lets get this crackin.
What are your thoughts on your current team?
Well, my current team consists pretty much of just Roy and Deron. We obviously cannot compete until I put some better players around them. However, you could do a lot worse than those two as your lone players of value on your team. I was a little bit worried about Deron going into this season, but he proved that he will be a superstar player. Yes, his TOs are high, but he is going to develop a bit more, and when he does he will be scary good. He averaged 24.0/5.2/8.3 this year on good percentages and as my second option. Regarding Roy, the guy is just a beast. 24.6 per game, low TOs, and great percentages. I think there is a great chance that a few of my moves this offseason shakes up the league, but time will tell. I’ll say this though, I will not miss the playoffs again for ten seasons.
What were some of the toughest thing about rebuilding the Nets for the past 2 years?
The toughest part of my rebuild was not getting bored. It’s really tough every day to check sim and hope that the team lost. Wins shouldn’t get someone upset, but they do when you’re tanking. I don’t know how people can stand tanking for three years in a row, but more power to them for being able to. I can’t, and I’m happy that I don’t have to. I don’t have my picks the next few years, but it won’t matter. There is no chance that they are lotto.
What are you feelings towards each player that you consider to be the "core" of your team? (Roy and Deron)
I guess I already answered this, but I’ll just reiterate what I already said. They’re both going to be superstars. Deron turns it over a lot, but he has enough potential left in him that he’ll lower them. I won a title with Baron Davis turning it over at a ridiculous rate, so I know it is possible to win with a PG turning it over a lot. Honestly, I think TOs in general are a little overrated, but they obviously matter and he needs to lower them. Aside from that, his game has no real flaws. Brandon Roy is an amazing player. I really want to go through my box scores and see how many times he dropped 30+ in the second half, because it felt like every sim thread I was saying “Roy with 35”. They’re two building block players, and I’m hoping to add another two through the draft (because my man nova gave me a top ten pick).
How do you feel your teams matches up against the other rebuilding teams around the league especially the Magic?
We went different routes. We both dealt off superior talent to acquire youth, but Baron’s departure made it so I pretty much had to build through the draft, as opposed to Aaron who was able to build through the players he got in return for KG, Marbury, and Rip. I’d say my team’s ceiling is higher than his, just because I have such an absurd amount of valuable futures on top of Roy, Deron, projected 4/5 pick, and the projected ten pick. The NOH 2008 is particularly intriguing. But, I definitely like what he has done, because Bynum is clearly sick. I also like LAL’s rebuild, although a lot of their future dominance depends on Oden/Durant, whereas mine does not. GSW, HOU, POR etc cannot really be commented on yet. In the end, Colonial Kellman reigns supreme.
What are you plans for this off-season? Any big splash in FA or trade wise with all the picks you have available?
It all depends on where my pick is. If I’m picking outside of the top-2, then there is a good chance that I start to make moves to acquire some superstar vets. If I do happen to land Oden or Durant, then I’ll probably sit on my core and try to add a few other young players to it through trades utilizing my picks.
When can we expect you to win or compete for the title once again?
In my mind, I can easily be a title contender as early as the upcoming season. But, a lot of things will have to happen in that time period, and I’m prepared to make the moves to put my team in a position to win. It’s so much more fun to win. However, I have no problem sitting on my core and ignoring star vets, in which case a title run will take a few more years. I’d rather it come sooner.
Who are some of the players you are targeting for this years draft?
I’ll tell you after I pick, dick.
Was your brother pissed that we were so loud?
I don’t think he heard you guys, because I talked to him earlier and he did not mention it. You guys were annoying though, and aren’t allowed over again for a week.
