Ricky Rubio-Miami Heat
C+ C+ B+ B C A
C+ B- A- A- C A
The first overall pick of this years draft certainly didn't disappoint after his first TC. Upgrades in outside, handles, and two upgrades in handles makes Rubio an instant impact player. Ebener has a pretty solid core of young players including Aminu,Curry, and Williams that could be a force to be reckoned with down the line for many years.
Michael Beasley-Dallas Mavericks
B+ C+ C C+ C+ A
A- B C B- B- A
Let's be honest, Dave needed this. You can tweak a DC as much as you want but if the talent isn't there it most likely won't work. This is definitely the breakout TC the Dallas Mavericks have been looking for from Beasley who had increases in nearly every category, plus A-/B scorer is sick. Teamed up with Lebron, Amare, and Head, Beasley and the rest of the Mavericks look poised for a playoff run, especially if GM Kruban can deal for a dominant center.
DJ Augustin- Portland Trailblazers
C B A- B D B
C A- A A- D+ B
Wow, what can you say? Augustin definitely exploded here and turned himself into an elite PG in BBS. A-/A/A- PG ratings are just gross. I can't wait to see how he sims with those ratings.Needless to say Portland GM Dan was very excited with these developments. Look for Thad Young, JJ, Kristic(winner of the latest midseason progression), and Augustin to improve on the second round exit they experienced last year.
Jamal Crawford-New Jersey Nets
C+ A- C B- C D
C+ A C B+ C C
How many people saw this coming? No one. You can't really ask for more from a 30 year old with D scouted potential on a 1 million dollar contract no less. While Crawford is definitely no replacement for the newly departed Paul Pierce, this will definitely help ease the pain. Despite losing Pierce, GM Mark retained superstar Baron Davis, in turn keeping 4 of the 5 main pieces from last years run into the conference finals. The Nets had many few key signings during FA such as Walton, Arroyo, and Posey who should help them be just as successful as last season. I would expect the Nets to contend for a title again this season.
Robin Lopez-Orlando Magic
C+ D+ C B C+ B
B- D+ C B+- B B
With the Hard Cap mishap of last season, GM Habes, The Master, Habeas Corpus, the man, the myth, the legend, or whatever the hell he calls himself these days needed a solid TC from his squad. Needless to say Robin Lopez delivered in a big way. A recipient of last seasons midseason progression, look for Lopez to continue to improve in the future. With young guns such as Westbrook, Ellis, Green, and Lopez, Aaron Haberman has a few options as far as team direction while he waits out his Hard Cap Penalty.
DeJuan Blair-Atlanta Hawks
B- C- C- B C+ B
B C- C- A- B A
DeJuan Blair was probably the surprise of this years TC. Drafted 15th overall by GM Andrew Scott, Blair has coveted the attention of a few teams, most notably the teams that have the Atlanta Hawks 2012 and 2013 first round picks. Blair looks like he has the potential to be an absolute stud in the BBS. After inheriting the mess left from the previous Atlanta Hawks GM, a breakout TC from someone was exactly what the Hawks needed to make some moves for the future or perhaps keep this potential star.
OJ Mayo-Toronto Raptors
B A- B+ B C A
B+ A- B+ B+ C A
OJ Mayo looks to be one of the most well rounded players in BBS. At only 22 years of age Mayo looks to improve on his already impressive career numbers of 22ppg/9apg/6rpg. Given those scoring ratings of B+/A- and his large stature for a PG, Mayo will definitely be able to score the basketball on a consistent basis. A little concerning to GM DJ is the fact that Mayo's handles did not visibly improve(in ratings) even after turning the ball over 4 times per game in his career. However, the Toronto Raptors are filled with some of the best youth in the league and should certainly be a team that will be a contender in the near future.
Derrick Rose- Utah Jazz
A- C A- B C+ B
A- C A B+ C A
I absolutely love this TC despite the fact that it wasn't overly impressive. The increase in scouted potential helps allay any fears that Rose would not live up to his hype. An already unique PG, Rose's stock definitely rose with this TC giving GM Lumley an extremely solid piece to build around or trade away, if he so chooses to do so.
Honorable Mentions:
Ivan Chiraiev- NY Knicks
Sam Young- Boston Celtics
Rudy Gay- Toronto Raptors
Monta Ellis-Orlando Magic
Amare Stoudamire- Dallas Mavericks
