1. Los Angeles Lakers
Nanz has done an incredibly good job with the lakers. He went about rebuilding the team the way it should be done. He stayed the course and now he is reaping the benefits. Just completed a blockbuster deal where he got Al Jefferson and a top 10 player in Tony Parker.
Jefferson/Smith/Jackson/Manu/Parker = Favorites
2. Milwaukee BUcks
The champs are back minus Jannero Pargo who played big dividends for them. They got a decent pg in theo but they're going to need to improve that to really be able to repeat. Yao/Meka/Kobe is about as good a 3some as your going to get in this league.
3. NJ Nets
Yes they lost Pierce but this team still is loaded with talent. Oden will never be a superstar, IMO, but hes pretty good. He's sorrounded by older stars in Brand, Baron, and Redd. The nets had a good tc and have as good a chance as anyone to win the title this season. Expect the bucks and nets to battle it out once again in the ECF
4. Denver Nuggets
A bit of a surprise but this is the team that came out of the west last season. Not the blazers or the lakers. Howard is the franchise and not too many are better. Dirk/Jo/Gasol provide the Nuggets with a great frontline along with Howard that gives em lost flexibility. Up top at the 1 and 2 they're a little weeak but Gordon and Conley have been pretty solid
5. Portland Blazers
- I really like this team. Dan has gone under the radar and does not get enough praise. Darko was a great pickup. Nenad, Young, and JJ round out the core along with the sudden rise of DJ Augustin who might prove to be the missing piece that the blazers lacked last season.
6. Dallas Mavericks
With beasley rising from the ashes of death the mavericks suddenly look good again. Lebron is a top 3 player, Amare is not a superstar but will get the job done. If Krup stops making excuses and just gm's his team this team will be back in the thick of things. It all depends on how beasley plays. They could be prety good again or barely be fighting for the playoffs but im going to give the mavs the benefit of the doubt.
7. Orlando Magic
Habes has turned the Orlando Magic into the wild wild west show. Has 2 solid bigs in Daly and Lopez which should be enough with Q-Rich, Vince Carter, Gerald Green, and Monta Ellis this team will be a nightmare for teams on the perimeter. They all can score and are efficient. The magic have a very scary team so dont sleep on them. I wouldnt want to face em in the playoffs.
8. New York Knicks
The big apple has something worth watchin again. Acquiring 3 time MVP from the Philadelphia Sixers automatically put the Knicks back in the playoff hunt. Ivan Chiriaev had a montrous TC after having the best season of his life, Rip Hamilton was picked up from free agency to provide another deadly offensive punch, coupled with solid players in stuckey and bamba fall should make the Knicks a good solid team. Not ready for contention though.
9. Washington Wizards
The wizards are boring maybe because of their gm or maybe because they dont make big splashes regarding player movement. They are still a pretty solid team nonetheless, Turiaf, Bosh, and hansborough are prety solid down low but the Wiz stars are on the wings. Deng and Wade are top players in the league. If jah plays the game with balls the team would be better. If they can add another scorer this team can be great but right now they're just a good solid team
10. LA Cllppers
They get the last place because of their amazing finish last season. They are anchored by one of the best players in the league in Chris Paul along with Dunleavy. Horford and Wallace are solid but this team needs some depth to get em to the next level. Chris Paul can only take you so far.
