1. After complaints about laziness in his trade block, a lack of posting and failure to return PMs, is it time to cut the cord on Donatello?
Nah, i mean what are the alternatives? I think it takes some time to get used to a league like BBS. He should definitely be more proactive when it comes to trades. I remember him wantin the 7th and i said i would be willing to move to down to 11 but would not even give me an offer.. WTF? Give him a season then cut the cord if needed
2. Nobody has been fired from the Contract Year, though it's safe to say multiple guys have done very shitty jobs throughout their stint in this league. Change the rule to make it stricter and present your case here.
I think it's fine. The main purpose of the contract year was to prevent mediocre teams for long spans of time. It's meant to light a fire under peoples ass and to that extent it has worked and kept things interesting but for the sake of argument if you want to make it stricter you can require a minimum of 2 winnings seasons after avoiding the contract year. Some teams just win for that season then go back to the same shit. I dont want to see guys fired. I think we have a solid core.
3. Is Outlawz in the middle of turning his team into a contender, or with shitty TCs from his draft picks and an inability to get any interest in Rip, has this been his first big failure in BBS?
Nah, not at all. In retrospect i should have made some deals while i had a chance but the only people i was dissapointed in was Ebanks and Clark but if they have one good tc they can look real good again. I had a good feeling about those guys though. The rest of the guys i just took a chance on so it's cool. I still have 18 1sts. I only been trying to shop Rip for an upgrade but other than that he's a perfect compliment for my outside offense, Arenas is the best player in the league, Stuckey is all league defense at the 2, can rebound and give me 18 a game, and Ivan is a top 30 player, IMO. Not too many guys can have B+ defense at C/PF and go out in the perimeter. I think guys are sleeping on the talent i have. I wouldnt use the word failure since TC is not something you can control but its definitely made things harder.
4. Do the Lakers really have enough offense to be do any damage in the playoffs?
Yeah, they'll be fine. They need to get some defensive depth. Manu/Parker will score tons and Smith will provide the rest.
5. Who had the best offseason? Who had the worst?
I think the Lakers with their latest deal can classify as having the best offseason but i like what the Magic did too so they come a close 2nd in my eyes.
I dont know if you can classify anyone having a real bad offseason. Losing Pierce was bad for the Nets, losing pargo was bad for the bucks but i think Pacers/Wizards although they didnt have a bad offseason their lack of moves was pretty bad. They both have some stars but i didn't see the effort player movement wise.
6. Would you have fired Lumley?
Honestly, no. I think he had done a solid job. Picking up pierce was good although the contract was bad, he didnt move rose, picked up ak. He did the best you can do. People are becoming too infatuated with activity but he could have been a little more active. In the end its spencers decision so i trust his judgement
7. Who is the most impossible GM to trade with?
Theres a few guys.
Nova - He does deals that baffles me and is always asking for peoples best player knowing damn well it is not possible for him to get them. I find that mighty annoying. I think Nova plays the game too safe so he always asks for too much
DJ - Unless you overpay you wont acquire a player of his. I dont even bother looking at his trade blocks
ebener - hes cool but i dont think me and him have ever made a trade.
8. Which team will win BBS this year?
The magic will surprise everyone and win it this year with the SWAT team they created for an offense. I really like that magic team.
9. This offseason, Mark shopped the package of Elton Brand and Baron Davis for just one top prospects. Baron Davis and Elton Brand are two absolute superstars in the primes of their careers. Both have arguable the best set of ratings of any player at their respective positions if you forget the names Tony Parker and Gilbert Arenas. For some of examples of the ridiculousness of the trade market, Allstar wouldn't deal Mark Patrick Patter for Brand. He couldn't land Demar Derozan; he couldn't land Al-Farouq Aminu; he couldn't get Andrew Bynum. God forbid he ask about a guy like Chris Paul, who, gasp, has worse handles than Baron and isn't two superstars. He's just one. But he's six years younger than both these guys so his value is apparently 10x theirs combined. Objectivity aside, this is an indictiment of how pathetically warped some GMs are when it comes to what it takes to be a good GM. So, how severely do teams around the league overrate youth? If you disagree, well, you better fucking write an essay. And please, name names.
I think it all depends on direction and value. While Baron and Brand are still very good they are 31yrs old so it only gives a GM a 2-3 year window. Bynum is a top 10 player and young i wouldnt of done that deal either, i didnt do it for Derozan( i think he offered brand/redd) because i preferred Arenas who was younger and gave me more of a window to get a cast around him. Again Chris Paul is a top 5 player and young. Young superstars you keep unless your getting 2 guys under 30 who are superstars. The only deal i see that should have been done is Brand for Patterson im also not that big on Aminu but i dont think ebener is ready to win yet so i can see why he would pass. It depends on direction and the value of the young guy mainly. YOu can make cases for both sides. But i think mark did the right thing by trying to continue to win if he did not get what he felt was a good deal for his guys. I usually just let it ride out with my guys just because its impossible to get good value for guys over 30. Its just the reality of things.
10. Now, name some more names. Pick five GMs and tell them why they're doing a terrible job.
- Martinez - Has always looked clueless and yet he acts like he knows what hes doing. He had a good team and just tore it down. He might be the first casualty of the contract year next season
- All star - What are you doing? I like that it seems hes actually trying to do something this offseason but that activity shoulda been there before considering the sad state of that team. A lot of solid players and a team going nowhere.
- Donatello - Go after deals! make some offers. Show interest in improving your team. You've had enough time. Pick it up or go home.
- a2j - I like him but he does weird deals and last season he said he didnt care that the cavs were going to get a lotto pick cus of him... you need to care about shit like that and keep your picks instead of giving em up for mid level prospects
- krup - he needs to step it up.. his team needs his help.. dont make excuses.. stop talking and start walking.. win or lose its your fault not anyone else's or the speed of the league or because habes picks fights with you
11. Washington sits in the 45+ win range in a depleted East. He has two elite talents and lots of good chips but hasn't kept an active block to add a piece. What does JAH need to do to put his team over the top?
He needs to give a fuck and not be in 1300 sim leagues. If he can focus on 2 or 3 i think he could be a better gm. Also, he gets attached to players like they're his babies. Its a business. Make moves and go for the gold. Always close but no cigar will always be for jah if he doesnt just go for it and make some moves.
12. What's the future for the Detroit Pistons? At this point, should Reilly keep squeezing the most he can out of his vets and turning deals for whichever impact player he can get, or is it time for Reilly's first rebuild in pretty much 40 BBS seasons?
If anyone can pull it out and still win 40 its reilly but i think its time he rebuilds. He does not have the time to keep winning. I say he rebuilds and take it easy for 2-3 seasons while he picks up young talent. I dont think he can pull out the same tricks as before. The gm's are better now in this league than before and hes not active enough to pull off the same kind of deals
13. Whatever you want to talk about. Shoot. Go. Do it
I think rc's should be for guys 28 and under. Guys improve at an old age in real life. Maybe something like only 3 pt increases for guys 28 and older. I would like some kind of compromise made there.
Also, this is the only league i been in where we wait for every single person. Kinda annoying. If you have a schedule just stick to it.
Why are players chosen by spence? If people didnt send a list.. AUTO!.. I could understand picking in the lotto. But after the lotto. AUTO that shit.
Maniacs a fag. The END
