1. After complaints about laziness in his trade block, a lack of posting and failure to return PMs, is it time to cut the cord on Donatello?
I don't think so. I have been talking with him about trades and he responds to my PMs within the hour or earlier so I can't say that he fails to respond pms. I understand that some people want GMs to be active on the boards and post alot more than he does becuase that is a huge part of what makes BBS so great, the activity of the GMs on the boards and their posts, but i guess Donatello just isn't that type of guy.
2. Nobody has been fired from the Contract Year, though it's safe to say multiple guys have done very shitty jobs throughout their stint in this league. Change the rule to make it stricter and present your case here.
I don't remember when or where Spence brought this up but he did mention a rule where if you get 3 contract years or so, you should be fired. I mean there are a bunch of teams that just get to 40 and get by with mediocre years and then thats it, its rebuilding time once again. I dont see how that could possibly be fun and it most likely means that that GM either doesn't have enough time to be in the league or just simply sucks. However, sometimes things dont turn out like you hope and some rebuilding peices turn out to be bust and you are stuck with another bad or mediocre team. Thats why i think 3 contract years is enough and your out, give someone else a shot. Thats 12 seasons of shit and that should be enough.
3. Is Outlawz in the middle of turning his team into a contender, or with shitty TCs from his draft picks and an inability to get any interest in Rip, has this been his first big failure in BBS?
I dont think so. Those guys are young and they could turn it around in the next TC to become maybe not superstars but good players. Also, he has a bunch of picks that he could turn around and trade for superstar vets this year or next. This whole time I've been here i've heard that he is probably the best, if not one of the best GMs around so I'm sure he can do it right.
4. Do the Lakers really have enough offense to be do any damage in the playoffs?
I dont know. After the first sim there were games where manu and parker put up 30 plus but then there were games where they put 19 and 12. We have been getting no contribution from our SF and i think that will change. I think with Manu and Parker on any team, you can put up points no matter what so hopefully it all works out.
5. Who had the best offseason? Who had the worst?
Well this one is tricky for me. I think losing Aldridge was huge for us becuase it completely took our team in another direction. We had a huge hole at center that i felt we couldn't compete with and that made me trade Durant. That deal, i think was the biggest one of the offseason where i landed tony and Al. So in a way, i feel like i had one of the wort and best offseasons out there.
Oh and Andrew had also a huge off-season. He went from the hawks to having rose and PP with the Jazz!! Yeeee good stuff
6. Would you have fired Lumley?
I would have probably given him more time. It seems from that convo with martinez he was busy and maybe his activity would have picked up later on. Who knows. But also it just seems like Lums didn't wanna be here. Once he found out Spence didin't have Verizon he went nuts. I heard he broke a chair on Ying Lins head. I mean Spence, how the hell dont you have Verizon, best netowrk out there. I get service at Marks and that place is a networks blackhole. Oh well, whateves.
7. Who is the most impossible GM to trade with?
Well i haven't really had alot of toruble with GMs but when i was talking with Jordan about getting Kobe or KG i felt like that was the longest time i have spent talking to someone about the same deal for days. He knew what he was doing though, as he won the title that very next season so can't complain much.
Dan is also terrible. Everytime i talk to him about a deal he yells at me and calls me an idiot. I remember when i offered him this one deal and he threw his oreo milkshake at my face, called me a moron and kicked me on my shin. What could i do? I just sat there and took it like a man but i couldn't hold back the tears.
8. Which team will win BBS this year?
I think there are a couple of teams that could win it this year. Mark has the talent and depth to go deep into the playoffs. Jordan has most of his pieces back with the exception of Pargo and i think is still one of the best teams in the league. Dan has a very good up and coming team that can really put up points and have proven they can win a bunch of games. Aaron is also there in the mix. He just added Marion becuase he feels like he can win it this year and with that explosive backcourt, who knows. Its gonna be a tough year again and it should be fun to see who wins but for now I'll pick the defending champs. Bucks.
9. This offseason, Mark shopped the package of Elton Brand and Baron Davis for just one top prospects. Baron Davis and Elton Brand are two absolute superstars in the primes of their careers. Both have arguable the best set of ratings of any player at their respective positions if you forget the names Tony Parker and Gilbert Arenas. For some of examples of the ridiculousness of the trade market, Allstar wouldn't deal Mark Patrick Patter for Brand. He couldn't land Demar Derozan; he couldn't land Al-Farouq Aminu; he couldn't get Andrew Bynum. God forbid he ask about a guy like Chris Paul, who, gasp, has worse handles than Baron and isn't two superstars. He's just one. But he's six years younger than both these guys so his value is apparently 10x theirs combined. Objectivity aside, this is an indictiment of how pathetically warped some GMs are when it comes to what it takes to be a good GM. So, how severely do teams around the league overrate youth? If you disagree, well, you better fucking write an essay. And please, name names.
I agree and i was one of them. I think it depends on the situation you are in and what fits best for your team. I used to think that i would never trade Durant but i had this homo on my team that left and i was force to make a big deal to keep my team as a title contender. Durant is gonna be a superstar in this league and he is only 22 but i needed to deal him to improve my team. People do overrate youth and like i said, i was one of them but its all about winning. Who cares if you have to deal that youth to get a title and a ring. Its all about winning and getting those rings!
10. Now, name some more names. Pick five GMs and tell them why they're doing a terrible job.
Well terrible is such a strong word...
Allstar: I feel like his team is just dancing around 500 and trying to barely avoid a contract year. He got Oden the year he tanked and traded him that same day to get players that would help him 40 games. Sometimes it doesn't work out but i feel like he needs to do more with that team.
Galo: He seems to be a great guy and i have never a problem with him but his team is again a mediocre team. He has paul and mike D but thats it. Its a playoff team but thats where it ends. He was just in his contract year again and i feel like all star, needs to be more outgoing and try to become a more elite team.
Nova: Again this team tanked for 3 years and was on a race to try to get to 40 wins. He put together a nice team but again not a title contender. I just see this theme of dancing around and not really doing anything but again I understand that sometimes things just dont work out.
20/Skills: Can i still name him? I guess this was Duce and i have never been on the same league as him but the trades he made really put this team on a hole and thats where Skills comes in. I dont know who to name anymore so since he is the Hawks now its all his fault. Yee
11. Washington sits in the 45+ win range in a depleted East. He has two elite talents and lots of good chips but hasn't kept an active block to add a piece. What does JAH need to do to put his team over the top?
I think he needs to trade some of those nice chips and try to go for guys to put around Deng and Wade. Maybe try to add a guy like KG and then maybe a guy like Bibby. I know he was trying and i still think that he could make that one or two moves to put him at a better position in the East.
12. What's the future for the Detroit Pistons? At this point, should Reilly keep squeezing the most he can out of his vets and turning deals for whichever impact player he can get, or is it time for Reilly's first rebuild in pretty much 40 BBS seasons?
Man this is tough. I think that he could get another impact player to make his team a playoff one in a weak conference but that would be it. He has been busy from what i understand and im sure that plays a huge part in this but yeah maybe its time to start fresh by trading those vets.
13. Whatever you want to talk about. Shoot. Go. Do it.
I wanna win this fucking title. LaMarcus is such a dick for leaving, i mean why leave LA to go to Seatle. WHAT THE FUCK.
When are we playing Poker again? Are we going to lunch tomorrow? My laptop died and now i have to wait for a new harddrive to come. Fucking Dell.
When are we partying again? My girl christie is who knows where... at least we are facebook freinds!
I don't think so. I have been talking with him about trades and he responds to my PMs within the hour or earlier so I can't say that he fails to respond pms.
