Highly touted from the days of his high school career, Marvin Williams went onto play his college ball at the University of North Carolina. He would grace the same hardwood as legends Michael Jordan, Vince Carter, Rasheed Wallace, and so many more great Tar Heels.
Williams came to a Tar Heel team, which was already loaded with talent and even though he was considered to be one of the best freshman in the country he wouldn’t be in the starting five. He played the role of the 6th man, the first guy off the bench, and would prove to be a great spark plug to a potent Tar Heel team.
The Tar Heels won a national championship and many scouts drooled over the freshman Williams due to his superior athletic ability and oozing potential. So Williams despite not starting took his game to BBS.
Marvin Williams was drafted #6 by the LA Clippers and was highly sought after by several other GMs. GM Galo was smart to hold off on dealing him until his value had peaked and he indeed cashed in with multiple picks for the swing man.
GM Marty was the bright bulb who overpaid for the hyped Williams and he eventually cashed in on him too dealing him away. So what happened to this young prospect?
Did he go onto have a hall of fame career like 99.9% of scouts said he would? No he turned out to be the biggest bust in BBS history hitting waivers, free agency, and now he is entirely out of the league.
We tried to reach both Williams and his agent for comments but neither could be reached. If you or anyone knows the where abouts of Marvin Williams please call 1-800-BBS-BUSTS.
