Some say the central is the toughest division in all of BBS and it sure was in the past league as it was filled with perennial 50+ powerhouse teams that combined for 4 BBS Titles and had the two most successful franchises in terms of wins in Detroit and Chicago. The Central would usually hold the top 5 record's of the East every season until NY grew into a powerhouse.
The Raptors were a top 5 winning franchise despite their abysmal start to their franchise which consisted of four years of being a top 5 lotto pick as if the Raptors were a submarine that had screen door to sink to the bottom as fast as possible. DJ employed a strategy from the beginning where he drafted a player that he knew would take a few years to develop but would be an All League type talent in who? Tracy McGrady. McGrady, AK-47, Michael Redd, and finally added Arenas and still managed to fail to make the playoffs again. DJ would continually change his DC everyday until he found a DC that would make him go 0-10 and mysteriously the DC changes would stop for consecutive sims. It was a perfect ploy as he could use the strength of the division to his own benefit as the powers of the central allowed him to be such a bad team even though he was pretty good where as bad teams in the west just beat up on each other and climb the standings.
Soon after DJ won two consecutive titles and was talking shit like he was the man like he did something besides tank. The rule of the contract year was put into place as some would say the "DJ" rule. The contract year was put into rule to prevent teams from tanking consecutive year to build a powerhouse team out of lotto picks. Other rules like the hardcap and in-season max rules help further this rule to strive for realism and difficulty into building teams and keeping them.
DJ chose to select a young Tracy Mcgrady again starting this league and I wouldn't be surprised if he selects not to surround him with any talent by trading away his early round picks as the powerful Central will allow him to sink to the bottom of the league. DJ and Mcgrady is just all too familiar.
On a side note I would like to extend a welcome invitation to some of the new guys in BBS the most competitive sim around. This should provide a bit of a history lesson on tanking and the contract year, don't try it because you will be called out for it by everyone forever but you all come in high regard so I doubt we will have to worry. Welcome and to all the familiar and unfamiliar faces around here lets make another great league.
